Anyone think that Mac might consider trading for Savage if Fitz bails now that Houston has Brock? Still young and could compete with Geno/Petty. Just throwing it out there as a thought.

Houston would be smart to keep him as backup. Brock can end up being the next Matt Shaub/Matt Flynn.

They will probably try to unload Hoyer first I could see the Jets trading for Hoyer.

Well Fred Savage was a Jets fan when he was a kid.

Is that the kid who briefly attended Rutgers?

Is that the kid who briefly attended Rutgers? Yup. He was a big get for them at the time.

I really wanted us to draft this guy in the 4th that year we had a gazillion picks.
Instead we preferred Jalen Saunders and Shaq Evans.
Thanks, Idzik.

I'd rather take my chances and draft a young guy. I'm also not in favor of signing Fitz to a long term contract for big money. If Fitz catches on in Denver, or Cleveland or St. Louis for 3 years $15 million a year....good for him....but I don't want the Jets investing that kind of $$$ in a career backup. If we lose out on Fitz I'm fine rolling with Geno, Petty and drafting another QB to see if we strike gold. If we take a guy like Hoyer or Savage and he does half way decent, we're eventually stuck in the same position, paying way too much for a below average QB. What the Jets need to learn from these most recent events is that if Petty flashes next year, or if we draft a QB and he flashes in year 2 or 3....sign him early to decent, but not crazy money, because there will always be a team willing to pay a QB $15 million plus a year off of a few flashes from a few games. That's just the NFL facts of life right now.

the guy couldn't beat out Hoyer or Mallett for a stab at the starting job. let's not worry about this turd.

Point taken. Still an unknown that was drafted by our GM. Thought he might be worth taking a flyer on for a low round pick given Houston has Osweiler & Hoyer (if they keep him).
