uk.news.yahoo.com/scottish-jews-finally-get-their-own-tartan-after-094813065.htmlScotland’s Jewish community finally has its own tartan - a 100% kosher design approved by the Scottish Tartans Authority. The design was approved by Rabbi Mendel Jacobs, the only Scottish born Rabbi living in Scotland. There are 6,400 Jews living in Scotland - with the first recorded Jewish person arriving in Edinburgh in 1691. It was designed after Glaswegian dentist Dr Clive Schmulian spoke to the editor of the Jewish Telegraph about the lack of an official Jewish tartan. Dr Schmulian said, ‘We commissioned Slanj, a leading kilt outlet in Scotland to come up with three designs. 'We put them to an online poll on the Jewish Telegraph’s website, 10,000 people voted, one was chosen and the winning design was announced. Maker Slanj says, ‘It is the only Scottish Jewish Tartan approved and registered by the Scottish Tartans Authority. ‘Initiated by Rabbi Mendel Jacobs - the only Scottish born Rabbi living in Scotland, it’s 100% Kosher - being a non wool-linen mix, and as it incorporates many aspects of Scottish-Jewish cultural and religious history, it is the perfect representation of our heritage.’

Getthefuqoutta here! (are you sure it's not Glenschmulian?) (and of course NO picture of the tartan)
