screw it sign him for cheap and draft a QB. Fitz will wreck havoc on the Jets salary cap and is becoming a distraction. The Jets are going to have to pay more than 7 million to gets Fitz to the table The Jets need that money to shore up its younger players(Sheldon Richardson) and fill holes so the Jets are competitive. Fitz is nothing more than a journeyman QB a hold the fort guy for 2 years. Can get the same results with Hoyer and he will be 2 million to 3 million against the cap. Draft a QB in the second round or trade up or back depending on whats to the Jets liking.

For the same money, its a no brainer in my mind, Fitz is the better QB, he knows the system, has experience with our OC and WRs. Hopefully this gives us some leverage to get Fitz here at the right price. The question comes in if Fitz is asking more $$ and a 2-year deal, and you probably can get Hoyer on a 1-year deal for $4 - $6 million. I hope Hoyer presence helps get Fitz under contract for the right number.
Let Hoyer go compete with Sanchez in Denver.

i never really saw hoyer play so i can't say if he's better or worse than fitz. we've all seen fitz play either when he was at buffalo or last season. does hoyer have a better arm? accuracy? those were two of fitz' issues. both marshall and decker are capable of bailing out just about any qb. add amaro, and powell to the mix and this team should be able to succeed with a guy who doesn't make many mistakes. and just to be clear genot's problem has not been accuracy or arm strength but poor decision making.

He was a trainwreck in the wild card game. The Chiefs blew him up and he was just throwing interceptions for fun by the end of the game. The Texans head coach also flip-flopped over who would be starting games for the Texans between Hoyer and Mallett.
As a cheap one year fill-in to absorb the hits while the Jets prepare Petty and/or a 2016 draftee, I wouldn't be averse, but in that situation, the Jets might as well just fly with Geno Smith for a season.

I've just been watchin some film and interviews with Petty, I gotta say I still can't see a reason why this guy can't be the next long term QB solution.
He says all the right things, seems a natural leader, can make all the throws, has an above average arm, accurate, protects the ball well, big frame, good pocket awareness etc
Only issues are them happy feet under pressure and the mental aspect of his development but hopefully that will come with experience and continued coaching. I seriously think this guy can do it after havin a year in the system behind Fitz already. Not buying this he's not ready BS.
Trade Mo and take a tackle and get that line solid for him. I'm just not sold losin picks for Glennon or Lynch are anymore of a sure thing then Petty right now.
