It's not about soccer, it's about people dying at it and their families 27 year battle against corrupt government and police officials for the truth and justice on what really happened.

Your British humor switch must be off. Not at all, just thought you genuinely didn't know what it's about, not sure it's common knowledge over there. Don't watch the first ten minutes of that documentary Duke recommended above because you won't be able to tear yourself away. Or it could pass an hour until the draft starts.

Because at the time there was a huge football hooligan crisis in the U.K, it was easier to point the finger and blame the fans to safeguard police reputation then to tell the truth about how they made disastrous decisions that resulted in those fans beingunlawfully killed. Watch the above documentary, the full investigation is explained, the things those fans where accused of was an insult to the people who lost their lives. It's disgusting.

I know a little about it. Saw some stuff about it a while ago. Absolutely disturbing. A horrific tragedy. I got caught in a stage rush at a Metallica show once. Crushed my sunglasses in my pocket. I feared about 50% for my life. Can't imagine how those people must have felt.

It's disgusting. yea I had watched it awhile ago - I understood that the police had a role but what I came away with it was that the facility itself and the way the barriers were placed were more the cause of death than anything - plus the fact that few years earlier at the same stadium an almost similar incident occurred. The main issue - for the most part, cover-ups rarely work.

To give you the short version of the story. It was a time when hooliganism was rife in the united kingdom. The government and police saw every soccer fan as a hooligan. There was a surge of fans arrived at the stadium. Rather than treat them like humans and open more gates for people to enter the police hurded them into the stadium through one area. There was a big push as kickoff approached. The police refusd to open emergency gates and stopped people climbing the fences. Many people were crushed and died. The police blamed it on the hooligans. The government backed them and tried to bury the case and they subsequently got away with murder. Yesterday the current leader of that political party tried to jump on the bandwagon in support of the families because he is a grade A cunt. Did you see the E60 on it? Was it a good representation of what happened? (And what grade would you give the cunts on this site?) Saw that -- horrifying. And I saw more photos and such afterwards - just bone-chilling for such a thing to happen, especially the way it did.

I just watched it again. One of the the most moving moments was during the 20th anniversary at Anfield. Some poor dude from the government was sent to represent, and gets interrrupted by a "Justice!", then the whole stadium chants "justice for the 96". Actually felt bad for the dude.
Shaming starts at 0:59

Shaming starts at 0:59 You shouldn't feel bad for him. He was detached from the situation and was about to deliver a standardised message from the establishment. The chanting physically and mentally moved him so that he went back to Downing Street an made them realise that they had to re-open the verdict.
