What ever happened to Roy Firestone? Jim Everette mistook him for Jim Rome and he was never seen again. ESPN is gonna do a 30 for 30 on it in the near future.

even if he an ignorant drill sargebt with brainwashed tendencies, You know the handouts his kinda people like to talk about so much. His kind of people? ignorant? Brain washed? All you have to do is read (asking alot of you) the comments from his own students past and present to see that he has the type of respect a drug addled, authority bashing drifter such as yourself will never garner from anyone.... I know this guy. He cares much more about the education of those kids (especially the one he was dealing with) than the administrators that suspended him. They care about how they are perceived and would much rather allow this kid to wander off into the world undisciplined and angry than to risk an accusation of racism...even though it was the kid that injected the N word into the debate. Its liberal pandering horse-shyte at its worst..because it does nothing for the kids and cloaks the administrators in a warm feel-good bath of do-gooding and high-horsed posturing. AND...its fvcking racist...the ultimate irony...because it pre-supposes that this kid is some sort of inferior victim who needs coddling and should be shielded from the standards of discipline his schoolmates are held to. (like much liberal doctrine) If you get a chance, Read the book..."Outliers" and "Wealth, Poverty and Economics" by Thomas Sowell. Both point to very tangible research that absolutely backs your point. The poor (and I was) stay poor under liberal doctrine. It indirectly criticizes the NEA and other groupsas being in it for the teachers and it shows direct evidence which points to the education gap widening and it can be lessened by year round schooling but that never gets past certain education groups and lobbys. Regardless where we stand, the education gap has been widening since the new deal, our country as a whole from an education point is falling. Yet this kid can drop the N word to a teacher? Realistically, these teachers unions continue to heavily fund very liberal candidates so its a real conundrum.

Part of the problem is that kids today rarely are "held back", but instead moved along with the group. And with more people outside the education system wanting teachers to be paid on performance, it's only going to get worse. I have two daughters that are products of public education and they're doing very well, so I can't lay the blame solely on educators. The parents play the most important role.

Funding candidates that protect their rights? WTF! Teachers as a whole are the ONLY people saving public education at this point. The testing put in place from the top, as well as efforts to corrode teacher input (to push toward privitization) are what's to blame. Read all the books you want. I live and breathe it. For the most part teachers have been stripped of their rights to the point where they don't dare discipline a kid. Parents complain and sue at the drop of a hat. Teachers are told to keep their mouths shut. Troubled kids are shuffled from classroom to classroom on mommy and daddies request. We've had liberals and cons in charge since the new deal. I didn't notice any difference. And the folks most against year round schooling...parents.

I couldnt/wouldnt be a teacher today for all the tea in China. Im simply stating that we have had a federal department of Education since the late 70's and education aptitude has fallen.
