Fuck! 80% chance of storms on Friday and 50% Friday night when I'm supposed to be at Citi watching the Mets! What the fuck is going on up there!!!!! Rain should be long gone before the game Friday night. I went to Citi Field last night. My wife is a Mets fan so I go with her to a game once a year.

Thanks everyone for your pearls of wisdom and advice! Our short flight from LGA to ORF took us 8 hours from the time we left The Kimberly Hotel, to get back to Norfolk due to storms last night. We had to divert to Richmond, VA for refueling, 2/3 of the passengers left in Richmond to find their own way home, but we toughed it out and got back at 9:30.
-Flight delay getting to LGA, so we had barely enough time to check into the Kimberly Hotel and walk to the subway to go to Queens. -CitiField is a beautiful ballpark and the views are very good, all around. I got my free Mike Piazza jersey friday night too! Along with my $12.50 souvenir cup filled with Stella. Mets hung tough, but fell apart late and lost. -Got back about 11 and met friends at the Empire steakhouse bar next to The Kimberly, and had a few drinks before hitting the hay. -We had breakfast at a small diner up the street, very fast and good. Better than the Starbucks that some in my party went to. (Why go to Starbucks when you have them at home?) -We grabbed cabs and set out for the 9/11 Memorial. What a beautiful, awesome and stirring museum that is! Nice touch having a kleenex stand at every door way. Several times I thought I may have to use them but was able to fight it off. I've been to the Pearl Harbor Memorial, and to me this is the civilian version if you know what I mean. Very informative and though provoking. -Saturday afternoon we did a food tour of Little Italy and Chinatown, schlepping from one eatery to the next sampling NY ethnic cuisine. Had some average NY pizza (we've been to NYC several other times and have had better) but it was still good. Had a Vietnamese sammich called "Banh-Mi" that was excellent. -Saturday evening went to PJ Clarke's for dinner! We were able to walk as it was only 5 blocks from the hotel. What a great place (Tks JetRep)! I had the Clarke Burger which was excellent. Most in my party got the trio of sliders. My daughter took one of her sliders to go which I had as a early morning snack. The Mens room was a topic of conversation for us guys. It is hilarious. Right there by the bar, and when someone opens the door, patrons can see who's standing at the huge 5' urinals. Kinda cozy in there too. Ya get to know your neighbor! lololol -On the way back I detoured the group over to the Cornerstone bar (thanks Ruby2) and had a nightcap. Nice place, what I would call your typical NYC bar. I wouldn't call it a dive bar Ruby, although at 10 they had Kareoke upstairs, but I made sure we got out of there before that started! -Yesterday we took the subway to Chelsea Market and walked a bit on the Hi-line and had brunch at the Standard Grill. It was very good. I had a fried egg and brisket sammich. The bread was awesome (as was the bun at PJ's) and the brisket was ultra tender. I had a foo-foo drink called a Belafonte' which had bourbon and banana liquor in it along with some of other stuff. Mostly tasted like carbonated bourbon, but the buzz was right. lol -I can't say enough good things about the staff at the Kimberly Hotel. They were all very friendly and accommodating. And because my daughter's name is Kimberly, they gave her a free white bath robe along with a Kimberly Hotel umbrella. She made out.
My wife and I can't wait to go back but probably with just us as we prefer subway travel and walking and not as many cab rides. We'd like to walk the hi-line more and maybe have a drink at the Brass Monkey which has a view of the Hudson.
Thanks again everyone, we had a great time!!!
Tim

If you were a Yankee fan this would be of no concern.

What the fuck is going on up there!!!!! you're going to see the Mets?have lunch or dinner at Parkside of Corona then go across the street to Lemon Ice King for the greatest lemon ice you've ever had I had no idea D'Arnaud is as bad as he is. For an MLB catcher, he throws in slow motion and bounces the ball into second. Teams turn walks into doubles. Then steal third while he throws a high one down there. Collins had him batting second, so I'm thinking, ok he must be a good bunter cuz his B.A. is crap. Nope, man on first, he hits into a double play lumbering down to first. I left scratching my head about this guy. But I digress.

Certainly sounds like you were able to do a lot and see alot. Glad you liked PJ's. I was actually going to mention the bathroom, but figured it would be a surprise. ) Best bathrooms ever. THose urinals are like 125 years old. Funny to be talking about, but it is kinda cool. Love that bar and the burgers there. BTW - There is a PJ's in DC (obviously not the same as the original, but they try to recreate the ambiance) and a lot closer to your home: pjclarkes.com/dc/There are only 5 in the world - 3 in NYC (you were at the real deal one), 1 in DC and 2 in Sao Paolo Brazil for some reason.
