3 reasons why the Jets should give Larry David a shot at calling plays
NEW YORK, NY - OCTOBER 01: Comedian Larry David is inching closer and closer to his dream of calling plays for an NFL team. At least that’s how I’m interpreting his appearance at Jets camp on W

ednesday.arry David attends the VIP Closing Dinner during Advertising Week 2015 If you haven’t been paying attention, David has said on multiple occasions that he’s convinced he could be an NFL offensive coordinator. We at For the Win think he should be given the opportunity to prove himself, and the Jets — David’s favorite team — should be the team to give it to him.
And throughout his career, David has proven to be pretty creative, which would come in handy when drawing up plays. You think the guy who wrote “The Switch” would have any trouble drawing up a play to get Brandon Marshall open?
Here are three reasons why we think he would succeed…
1. He’s a skeptic, and skeptics make the best coaches
David is constantly challenging the status quo, and that’s the sign of an innovative coach. He comes off as a guy who wouldn’t be afraid to go for it on fourth down or take a deep shot when the situation calls for a conservative play.
2. The Jets are stacked on offense
Speaking of Marshall, if he and Eric Decker can make Ryan Fitzpatrick look like a decent quarterback, those two could probably make David look like a decent coach, no? He’s also got Matt Forte in the backfield. It’s not like the Jets need a lot of help from the coaching staff. These are talented, experienced players. David could use a playbook from Madden and still succeed with this bunch.
David also has a reputation for elevating those around him. I mean, he made Jerry Seinfeld into a television star and he has as much acting range as DeAndre Jordan has shooting range
3. Letting fans call plays worked for the Titans
Did you know the Titans auctioned off the chance to call two plays in the preseason opener? It’s true. And here’s what happened

Titans let fans call 1st two plays Sat night. They ended up being a 15 yd run and a 31 yd pass. Next 3 called by coaches? 5 total yards

And those were just two randos, not the creative mind behind two of the best television shows ever. If this isn’t proof that any old schlub can call plays, then I don’t know what is.
Think about it, Jets.
