That might explain the lack of urgency. Just a huge disappointment so far and i had huge hopes.

As clueless off the field as he is on it? Not for nothing, but it seems Costello is the only one reporting about Amaro's roster status.

Who are the Top 5 TE's of all time for the Jets? Who are the Top 3 in the last 25 years? Top 5: Mickey Shuler Rich Caster Jarome Barkum Johnny Mitchell Dustin Keller Last 25 years: Johnny Mitchell Dustin Keller Jame Dearth/Chris Baker - One is a great long snapper we never have to worry about and the other was ok. We've been a very lucky franchise. Two great LS back to back in Dearth and Purdum. /s

Outside of QB (obviously) is there a position we have been more snakebit at? last good one i can think of was schuler. i'm probably one of the few who liked johnnie mitchell(all the talent in the world) but man he just couldn't get it together.

Who are the Top 5 TE's of all time for the Jets? Who are the Top 3 in the last 25 years? Have we had a TE the past 25 years? Feels like we have been playing with 10 on offense.

a great TE would improve this team shit loads. It seems we will never fill this void. We've passed on some good ones. We've also been dumb enough to take these crappy TEs in the 1st and 2nd rounds. I bet we used more 1st round picks on TE over the last 25 years than any team in the league. Idiot jets.

Outside of QB (obviously) is there a position we have been more snakebit at? We have had very good QBs over the years (Vinny, Chad, O'Brien, O'Donnell). TE has been a much bigger problem area. The fact that O'Donnell is on that list makes me wonder. I would argue that Richard Todd did more for the Jets than OBrien (playoffs etc) but I was in college in a 24 hour drunk induced semi coma.

It would be mildly surprising, but it shouldn't be really. This coaching staff doesn't put a high value on the "traditional" TE. They like their TEs basically to be another OL, and use an H-Back in the passing game. Amaro isn't much of a blocker, and doesn't have the speed they seem to like out of their H-Back. It doesn't help that he has the dropsies occasionally. He just doesn't seem like a fit for the current regime. He might make the roster, but I don't think he'll ever do much here. I'm not sure it's so much they don't place a high value on traditional TEs rather they've been forced to work with what they have. TEs were always a big part of Gaileys schemes in the past. It's a shame because a good TE would set this offense over the top - another year of being last in the NFL (13 TE receptions last year?) at what has become one of the league's more important positions.
