For years..a great player. But as a man a very unlikable, arrogant and cocky , money hungry fuck! As much as I couldn't stand the "Mevis" side of him over the years, he's a master craftsman and the best at what he does. I think the poking and prodding he is currently receiving is unwarranted and ridiculous.
I would like to state that even though I don't particularly care for him as a person, He has been a GREAT JET! I offer my FULL support to one of the best ever... Haters cant wait to talk shit when an elite shows the slightest sign of slipping. Here's to hoping he can smile at the end of the year and flat out say "FUCK YOU" I think he can and will. Beware the fury of the patient man... Go show em' how it's done 24!!! Shut em' down.

Agreed, he was never a "great Jet"he was a great cornerback and never gave a damn who signed his check. He has no loyalty to this team and if we werent the highest bidder he wouldnt even be here on this farewell tour.

I've hated Revis'attitude too. But if you look at it from the standpoint of a player, look who you're up against. The owners don't give a shit about any of the players. You get the rare exception because someone's a superstar but look what they do to most of the players. They treat them like absolute shit.
I'm not condoning the bad attitude of a player but you can see why they feel like they should try to get their share of the money.
We always look at it from the point of view as a fan. Much of the time they look at it from a business point of view.
I'd like to know how many of you would be loyal to your company if you knew that somebody else is willing to pay you a lot more.

He's a mercenary. Made that clear since he was a rookie.
Right now, more than anything, I think he is out of shape. Even in his prime I never thought of Revis as a great physical specimen. But when you're 25 you can carry the extra bulk and not miss a step, when you're in your 30s it makes you lose one or two. We've seen many great athletes extend their careers by shedding the weight. There is no excuse. An arm/wrist injury shouldn't effect cardio.

I don't put as much blame on him as some for the last couple of weeks - obviously not good but look at the scenarios. AJ Green is one of the best in the game, really one major bad beat with no safety help. Not a good game for Revis in general but understandable. Goodwin is probably the fastest guy in the entire NFL - literally an Olympic track star. After the one beat - again, with no safety help - Revis held everyone else in check and made adjustments accordingly. He's obviously not his former self, but reports of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.

So, in a league where former players are ravished by physical injuries, including serious brain injuries, Revis is supposed to give home team discounts? And it is somehow his fault that the Jets were willing to pay him? Blame the GM and the owner if you want to complain about a high contract. It is not the players fault if he chooses to maximize his earnings by getting the most money he can in a contract.
Revis works hard every off season, plays hard during the season, spends countless hours in film study, and stays out of trouble. He is the ideal player. Every player should strive to be as dedicated as Revis. While maybe I would not have paid him as much as the Jets did to bring him back, I certainly would have gotten close to that number. He had just come off a SB win and was playing at near his pre-injury level. Can't second guess the contract now. What's done is done. You can only move forward. Revis recognizes there is a business side to football.
Next season, his base salary is $13 million with a cap hit of $15.3 million. If they cut him in 2017 they will have an $8 million cap hit, but save $7.3 million against the cap. In 2018 and 2019, his salary is a little over $10 million and he can be cut with a negligible cap hit. Clearly, unless he converts to become a really good Free Safety, he will be cut in 2018, and unless he starts having better results this season, there is a good chance they will either outright cut him or ask him to re-work his contract next season.

You make it sound like he is the only one. Every player, coach, owner and ball boy in the NFL are out for themselves and money. It's a cut throat business and will always be that way, that's why you can't build a decent team and have success. Unless you cheat like the Pats.

I do. everyone wants the revis of 2009 to start walking on the field. that's just not going to happen. but we also must acknowledge that some of his apparent decline is also due to the scheme he's playing in. bowles is the guy who is telling revis where to play and maybe it's not quite revis needs to be to be most effective. as for him asking for the money, my only beef is when he held out and then comes up short with a hamstring after one or two games because he ddn't train well enough. mac and bowles willingly paid the money. and, by the way, whatever happened to asoumaga? he got the big bucks for one season and then played himself out of the league.
