EAST RUTHERFORD — After Sunday's 27-17 loss to Seattle, Jets coach Todd Bowles said his confidence level remains the same in quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick on Sunday followed his six-interception dud in Kansas City with three picks. To be fair, his second pick Sunday wasn't his fault, because it went off Robby Anderson's hands. And his third pick came in the final, desperate moments of a game the Jets were about to lose anyway.
How is Fitzpatrick's confidence in himself, now that he has four touchdown passes and 10 interceptions for a 1-3 team?
"I'm just fine, thank you," said Fitzpatrick, whose week-by-week quarterback ratings this year are 77.0, 116.5, 18.2, and 53.0.
He knows his first pick Sunday, early in the fourth quarter, was a costly one. Richard Sherman snagged his back-shoulder throw for Brandon Marshall. And that led to a 61-yard touchdown drive that put Seattle up 24-10. /font]
Really, we had the same route on the play before," Fitzpatrick said of a 17-yard completion to Marshall. "They gave us one-on-one coverage again. We went back to it. Richard Sherman made a nice play on it."
On a whole, the Jets' offense did next to nothing in the second half Sunday — seven points on a fluke fumble recovery touchdown and just 76 yards.
The Jets had a chance in the second half, down 14-10 at halftime, and 17-10 entering the fourth quarter. But they fizzled out.
"I'm still confident in our guys," Fitzpatrick said. "I'm still confident in our offense and the things that we can do. We just didn't put it together in the second half."
And now they get to visit the Steelers and Cardinals the next two weeks/font]

If we go 1-5 they need to cut Fitz and see what Geno is. They really need to cut him now but that won't happen.

Somebody please tell me that this nightmare starring a weak armed stupid backup QB impersonating a starting QB is gonna end. Please.

I am not a Geno fan at all, but Fitz is not playing well enough to win games (aside from Buffalo), and thats what you need from a QB. A guy who can make plays and win games. Forget about all of the interceptions, the guy has also fumbled in every game -- we have not lost any, but he keeps putting the ball on the ground. He has had opportunities to make plays and missed them. He is not the only problem on this team, but he is one of the major problems. As long as Fitz is our QB, we our going to have to dink and dunk our way down the field. It is hard to put together 10+ play drives against defenses like the Seahawks, but that what we need to do because we cannot make big plays. We had a chance this afternoon. I think it was the 3rd quarter. Down 17-10 at around our own 45. Anderson got behind the corner, was open for a likely TD, and Fitz overthrew him. We had chances to make plays last week against KC, and he could not connect. It is not just about the interceptions, it is about the plays he has left on the field. Personally, I don't believe in Geno, but right now he is the only likely alternative. Petty has not practiced since August and Hack is not ready. I thought Geno looked bad in preseason, but given what I have seen out of Fitz in 4 of the last 5 games, I would put Geno in and give him one last shot. At least he has the arm to challenge defenses deep and make the opponent defend the entire field. I am ready for a change.

It's disturbing that Bowles doesn't see how pointless it is to play Fitz.

It's disturbing that Bowles doesn't see how pointless it is to play Fitz. He'll end up being a bad hire just like everyone else since Parcells. Good DC on other teams that has no business as a head coach. Fucking guy is clueless out there, never adjusts, and still doesn't know when to use a timeout. Add in the fact that he didn't automatically know to go for two in the buffalo game. That is disgraceful at this level and should never happen. Never.

But it's like the guy regressed. He needs to get his act together fast.
