Because he helped us hire these asshats. I do want Bowles gone, but he is right about the rebuild job. It was even worse than I guess I realized. This tweet from Breer about made me retch. I agree that we've drafted poorly the last 5-7 years. We both want Bowles gone and Mac should have been able to pick his own head coach from the start. However, you know I haven't been a fan in his picks. I don't think that stat is going to change anytime soon. I hope I'm wrong.

The effort was a lot better? Better than what? I mean seriously what is he comparing it to and why? His effort was a lot better. I actually saw him give a fuck on the sideline and yell at players. His coaching however wasn't better. Baby steps.

I would like to see him send a message. I would bench revis, Wilkerson, Richardson. Players that don't give effort. I want to see a lot of the young guys and I don't want to see forte. Mangold should be shut down. Giacomini benched. Nothing but petty and hack.

Mangold should be shut down. Giacomini benched. Nothing but petty and hack. I agree with this, but Hack shouldn't touch the field this year. #2 reps in practice is enough for me. Fitz doesn't need reps because he knows the offense and who cares about him. I also wish Bowles would go up to Richardson and give him the non PC speech. "Look you piece of shit. I'm only going to play you because I want to trade you in the offseason. I know you don't give a shit, but if I can't find a good trade I will cut you and you will make a fraction of that 8 million dollars next year." I know that won't ever happen, but money and ego are the only things Richardson cares about.

If Bowles hasn't been able to get the Xs and Os right on Defense AND he can't motivate the guys to play hard, then what is it exactly that he does well?

A lot of that question depends on what Maccagnan does in the offseason. If he brings back Revis, Sheldon and all the other high price vets and the team does not have an infusion of new talent, they should both go. By then it's too late. I don't like Mac but I'd keep him another year and let him hire his own coach. Bowles has to go on black Monday. Ok, then we hire a new coach (say a Josh McDaniels). After 2017, we decide to move on from Mac. What happens to McDaniels? Do we force him onto the new GM with only one year of experience under McDaniels belt? What decent coach is going to want to come here? If a better alternative than Bowles becomes available, then I am ready to move on. But otherwise, I still think the smart play, in the long run, is to bring him back next year (I realize I am now in the minority with this opinion). That being said, I think that its imperative to make other changes to the staff this offseason, KC Rodgers in particular.

Although I am in favor of moving on from Bowles, I do agree partially with you. If we decide to make a coaching move now, but keep Macc, then I think we need to give Macc/new coach 3 years to rebuild. Together. To rebuild this team. The last thing I would want to see is firing Bowles, hiring new coach and then firing Macc next year. Then we are right back where we were for the last 4 seasons, coach & GM forced upon each other. I have been late to the fire Bowles party -- but after Monday Night. A team completely unprepared, still busting coverages in week 13, guys just going through the motions lack of accountability. As much as I hate changing coaches after two years, I also hate the idea of keeping a guy around just because you don't fire a coach after 2 years.

A bad QB will put the spotlight on your coaching abilities and how you're able to cope and scheme around that. I'm still at a complete loss on how far we've dropped on both sides of the ball.

It does remind me a bit of just before Parcels took over.
This team does have plenty of holes but is not devoid of talent. It is entirely underperforming with the talent that it does have.
Maybe it's a bygone era, but you need a coach that will come in and place his foot squarely in the ass of these lazy assed turds. Sorry Bowles...you left it up to these guys to police themselves and be professionals. Didn't work.

I can't see Bowles being let go before the end of the season, so I would like to see how he handles these last 4 weeks. He needs to start kicking ass in that locker room and benching people.

Only worse period of time was the 70s.

I'm probably going to get roasted here, but if we don't go after Gruden or Cooter, I hope we go after Coughlin. He didn't take shit from anyone.
