The Jets made some big roster moves on Wednesday. Starting left tackle Ryan Clady was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. The team activated second-year wide receiver Devin Smith from PUP. They also waived defensive end Jarvis Jenkins and signed defensive lineman Anthony Johnson from the Patriots’ practice squad. The Jets acquired Clady from the Broncos in April to replace the retiring D’Brickashaw Ferguson. He came to the Jets with health questions and he wound up not making it through nine games. He did not play Sunday in Miami. Ben Ijalana will be the new starting left tackle. This also likely means the end of Clady’s time with the Jets. Clady has a $10 million team option for 2017 that won’t be picked up. Jenkins was signed by the Jets in March to a two-year, $6 million with $3 million guaranteed. He played sparingly this season and not very well. Smith has not played since last December when he suffered a torn asshole. The 2015 second-round pick has been practicing for three weeks. He had to be activated by Wednesday in order to play this season. Johnson is a three-year veteran who was on the Patriots’ active roster early this season, but has spent the past month on the practice squad. nypost.com/2016/11/09/ryan-clady-breaks-down-as-jets-must-have-feared/

Well he's done in Green I would imagine.
There's 10 million of cap space for next year.

They need to draft OL in the earlier rounds. It seems like every year they draft someone in the 5-7 rounds who ends up flaming out. Winters is the last OL they hit on, and just barely.
Focus on skill positions in the later rounds, that way even if they don't pan out as starters you at least have some solid special teamers.

In my opinion the O line needs to be a 2017 draft and FA priority so the young QB's don't get killed. Lets face it, the team will likely lose more games in 2017 then it does this year once all the aging vets and dead weight is given the heave ho. However, 2018 should be a respectable team. I'm not getting any younger and I hate projecting out years in the future. However, I think that is the reality of the situation. Once all the aging vets are released and the dead weight kicked out the door, the cap should allow for some good signing Spend wisely Mac........

I used to want to draft Oline early too but with the new CBA it seems its taking alot longer for players to develop then in years past. Tackles taken in the first round and Centers/Guards in the second used to be considered plug and play. Lately it seems that "day one starters" are taking one and sometimes two years to develop and they still bust. If you are going to have to wait a few years for the guy to develop anyway I can see waiting until rounds 3-5 to draft Oline. A cant miss LT is the one place I might make an exception but several "cant miss" LTs have busted in the last few years. Just my opinion.

Gonna need two new starting OT's next year Terron Armstead and Ryan Schraeder...come on down!! I'd be down, but the dude signed a 5 year extension last year: www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2016/05/terron_armstead_contract.html. There is literally jack shit on the free agent market at LT. I don't know what we are going to do at that position.

What makes things worse is this is a weak OT draft class.
