Did you think that Parcells was a weakling when he quit the Pats** the same way Marone left the Bills? Or did you get wet like everyone else when he was brought in? You're mixing two different things. I'm talking about how he lost the power struggle in Buffalo forcing him to leave. Not the fact that he left. He wound up on the short end, that's not anything to be impressed about. He had no choice but to leave. Compare to Chip Kelly who had disagreements with his GM and rather than storming out, having a screaming match, and quitting, he got the upper hand, got personnel power and got the GM (whom the owner loves) kicked upstairs, and a new GM on the way. That's impressive. I still don't understand how you think he lost a power struggle. LaConfora reported that the Bills owner had given Marrone a large contract extension and thought that the deal was in place when Marrone opted out. How is that losing a power struggle? Maybe, just maybe he realized that the Bills were about to lose a starting safety, starting DE, Spiller, No starting QB, need to replace two starting Guards and realized that next year they would have 5-8 wins at best and decided he'd rather look for a better opportunity. A better opportunity with a GM who actually hired him and didn't inherit him. A GM that would work with him and not against him. Isn't it quite possible that's what happened? I could see if he got fired, that would be losing a power struggle but he got rewarded with an extension and on his own decided to leave. Hopefully you can comprehend this now.

Marrone is solid. So is Bowles. Kelly I can't comment on because I don't follow ND that much. Quinn is solid. Hue is my top candidate. I just can't get with Mcdaniels, Kubiak or Shanahan...I'm also fond of Pep Hamilton...and Adam Gase but neither guys got intervie ws here...

He took his ball and left. that's losing a power struggle. I don't know how you figure being denied an extension is being 'rewarded with an extension'. Hopefullly you can comprehend that now. So coaches that have worked with him and some players aren't that enamored of him. It doesn't matter that players love Rex, but if there are some that respect Marrone - that's a worthy endorsement.

He wanted an extension because he knew a regime change was coming.....he didn't get it so he left using the clause agreed upon by everyone and got out of there before they could "get him".
I don't know why we continue to go back and forth on this....I'm not even that fond of the guy LOL

What is interesting is the same people who don't want Shanahan would love Cowher. To that, I say, what is the difference? Both are SB winning HC's? I understand the Kubiak apprehension, but he did lead a high powered Texans team that just couldn't get over the hump, and we shouldn't forget that he had a QB in Schaub who we have come to find out is about as soft as they come, he completely imploded as his career has progressed, and just may be the reason why the Texans kept falling short. Kubiak is no different now than any of the other high-rising offensive coaches, i.e. Gase, McDaniels, Quinn, etc, except that Kubiak does have experience, and was the HC of a very good Texans team.

You're cherry picking is ridiculous.
It was one coach, not "coaches." Anything coming out of the Buffalo media should be taken with a grain of salt, their agendas and hate reporting is well known.
The players were upset because just as Jackson said, "they weren't in the room," sure they are upset, they believed in Marrone, and bought in, and Marrone left abruptly, no different than what Parcells did in New England. The players should be upset, but what is really important is that they are upset because they respected him so much, which is what you are completely neglecting.

From this AM - Bills owner Terry Pegula, who thought he had Marrone extended, still looking for a football czar
Maybe you can comprehend that.

Ray, she's totally lost off in her own little agenda filled world about Marrone. Nobody is saying this dude is Vince Lombardi but to say he's a weakling when all reports not from Buffalo or the daily news say something else is ridiculous. I'm done arguing about it, she's obviously got a figurative hard-on for this dude so it is what it is.

Well not keep him, more like give him a lifetime extension. But, she's not the only one. *Cough* *Cough* Jetstream23
