I like these preliminary choices so far. Ryan Pace is an interesting name. He is highly regarded in the Saints organization. Miami wanted him last year but the Saints denied the request for an interview. enough with the Ryans...

Thanks for sharing this article. Very interesting read. Everyone deserves a second chance. If we brought in Mike Vick, a move I supported, with his baggage, we can certainly hire McCloughan as our next GM. The guy can evaluate talent as proven by his stints at SF and Seattle. This would be an awesome move imo and his connections to Wolf make it a possibility, I hope. Agreed. I have to say I like the names being floated out there early on. Clearly, scouting and player development is finally going to be given a bit more play than bringing in a capologist. And may I say "AMEN" to that! Okay, TBaum on line one.

We desperately need a GM with talent evaluation this year with our draft position and cap space even if the guy isn't great in other areas of management. The way we handle the 2015 offseason will determine this team's future for a long time to come.

Im not sold on Him he is more of a yes man like Brian Cashman is for the Yankees. He doesn't run the team or pick the players Jerry Jones runs the whole operation. The only guy on this list that seems interesting is Kirchner and even he is scary because of the whole Idzik thing. Kind of wish Ron Wolf would stay on and run this team for a few years.

Not overly blown away by any of these candidates besides maybe the hou guy interests me. Was really hoping to bring in an established guy like Lombardi.

Everyone has their own opinion and preferences but go ask Cowboys fans what they think of McClay. In terms of understanding personnel he's highly regarded. I'd like the job to go to either McClay, Patton, or Kirchner. If the jets could also land Bowles or Quinn then I'd be happy with that new leadership.

I wanted to keep track of the GM search and as news is gathered/heard keep it in one place. Seems odd to me that the HC vacancy is getting more attention than the most imprtant decision Woody has to make in the next few weeks (days?) that will affect the franchise for years to come. (We already can see how his bonehead decision from two years ago has set us back). I hope all the HC talk and interviews are just to do some of the preliminary legwork for the new GM, weeding out guys etc. I also wanted to mention that even though it has been said that both the HC and GM will report directly to Woody, NJ.com is reporting that he has not determined his organizational structure yet. Looks like Casserly/Wolf have really told him he needs to start from square one and he is listening. General manager candidates• Seahawks pro personnel director Trent Kirchner (interviewing this weekend) • Texans college scouting director Mike Maccagnan • Vikings assistant general manager George Paton • Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta • Eagles pro personnel director Rick Mueller • Jets senior director of football administration Rod Graves • Browns executive chief of staff Bill Kuharich

VTN,
Thanks for starting this thread. Why no mention of former 49er and Seahawk Scott McCloughan? Buy low sell high? Scott could be a diamond-in-the-rough.

Pretty sure that this is a list of confirmed candidates that the Jets have either reached out to or requested permission to interview. I have not seen any reports that they have reached out to Mcloughan.

I have not seen any reports that they have reached out to Mcloughan.Of course not, that would require out-of-the-box thinking something I am not sure Woody has in him. I like Scott's candidacy for so many reasons. First, and most importantly, he is a proven winner as a talent evaluator. But he is a human down on his luck and will be motivated to turn his professional career around from his failings in his personal life. No better story than that and on no bigger stage than New York. Woody, get it fucking done! Hire Scott and move out of the way. The only time we want to see you is in your suite during the games and on the podium at midfield [Superbowl site] accepting the Lombardi from Goodell. Edit: I am talking about Scott McCloughan not the other NE bust Scott Pioli.
