Meanwhile, stay away from nepotism and legacy hires -- those advocating they want someone with "football" in their blood. i think the move the Vikings made for Bridgewater was brilliant, and he seems to be proving that he should have perhaps been the #1 pick. if that was even a little bit of Paton's doing, it makes him at the very least qualified to interview anywhere

Mike Maccagnan has been a tireless worker behind the scenes helping Texans draft players who won 2 division titles and finish 9-7 in 2014.
I'm really digging a Marrone/Maccagnan combo
An offensive minded HC who has proven that he can surround himself with quality defensive minds to oversee that side of the ball and a longtime respected scout/personnel guy supplying the groceries.

According to Brian Costello: Brian Costello @briancoz Follow Jets would like to interview Texans director of college scouting Mike Maccagnan for their GM opening, according to league sources #nyj 10:01 AM - 30 Dec 2014 Maccagnan is one of the more prominent candidates for general manager, and a known favorite of Charley Casserly. It's no surprise therefore that the team is interested in interviewing him. We previously wrote this article about Maccagnan two years ago, and it's worth taking a look. www.ganggreennation.com/2014/12/30/7468159/jets-request-interview-with-mike-maccagnan-for-general-manager

Eric DeCosta is the general manager in waiting for the Baltimore Ravens, and for years has been in line to succeed Ozzie Newsome. Every year, he is arguably the most coveted candidate, and every year, he rejects every team's overtures. Two years ago, he wouldn't even interview with the New York Jets. However, that hasn't stopped the team. Ian Rapoport ✔ @rapsheet Follow #Jets are expected to make a significant push for #Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta, per source. Many have tried for the respected executive 10:41 AM - 30 Dec 2014 I'm not going to get my hopes up, but this is a swing for the fences. If Woody Johnson is willing to open up the purse strings and hand over full control to DeCosta, it's possible, but still unlikely. This would certainly be a move that would lend significant credibility to the team, and would be almost impossible for the media to criticize. Don't get your hopes up, but this would be awesome. www.ganggreennation.com/2014/12/30/7468217/new-york-jets-to-make-serious-push-for-eric-decosta

Marrone worked with Rick Mueller when he was in New Orleans. I would not be surprised if it ended up Marrone and Meuller. Also, lets not forget that one of the reasons Marrone opted out was that he wanted more power in personnel decisions. He basically had none in Buffalo other than deciding which players to have on the active roster each week. So, Marrone would not be coming to the Jets unless he knew the GM, or had some control over players pursued in free agency and the draft.

BB took his team yesterday to watch "American Sniper" courtesy of director Clint Eastwood himself. Private screen, Clint personally called BB to ask him if they'd like to watch. Yeah, New York matters in the NFL.
