Sounds like someone with an ax to grind. Hack may very well turn out to be a wasted pick, but I give the team credit. They said he was getting a red shirt season and they are giving it to him. I like the no nonsense, I mean what I say approach the Jets have adopted. The Jets front office and HCs of the past habitually caved in to media and fan pressure. Plus, with the Circus and problems Hack had to deal with in Happy Valley for 3 years, a year off will do him good. I consider this season to be a cleanse of sorts for him. ps. I bet if O'Brien had a do-over, he wouldn't sign Osweiler and would have gone QB in the draft with Hack as the #3 guy on his QB board. This. Plus, if one of his big issues is footwork, do you throw him to the wolves behind this line for one game this season?

So all Mac has to do is say "we're gonna red shirt him" and the pick is excused?
So what if we take a OT next year in the top who Mac says we're gonna red shirt him. Would that fine?

So are you going to share who wrote this or just ignore the multiple requests? Historically, are a lot of OTs asked to sit and learn for a year? Lots of QBs have. That's the big difference, there is a definite precedence, and actually quite a good track record, of QBs not playing their first year.

I've never seen this kind of "overt" lampooning from the media myself. How is Mac not accountable on this one? Why would you hold up a quote as somehow making a point for you, then not attribute the quote? #seemsdumb EDIT- saw you posted the same thing over at JN. At least you have Bitonti in your corner, so that's something.

And it's completely ridiculous. How did he implode in the preseason? Why in the world would he not be on the roster? All just dumb comments. Red shirting him is fine. He's gonna get his chance next year and if he can't make some noise next year then we can start call for macs head.

The pick isnt excused, Maccagnan is accountable. But I would have even less respect for him if he played Hack this weekend after saying he was going to redshirt, and not preparing him all year to start a game. Mac is tied to Hackenberg at this point, his day of reckoning will come December of 2017. If Hack sucks and the Jets go 4-12 again, he will be gone.

Who is the article from? Pro Football Focus? And who says Mac isn't accountable. Even if what the article is true(it might be) who says he isn't accountable? Is bricking a 2nd round draft choice a fireable offense? And that line "he may not be on the roster in 2017" "leaves no credibility for whoever is responsible for this

I mean as bad as he was this year and as bad as many of us think he is, then he will not make the team. Especially if we have a different GM/Coach.

Who the fuck cares if he plays a single snap this year? What difference is it gonna make? We are not going to know either way off of one game if he's "the future" or not.
If he plays well all people are going to say is that it was a meaningless game against a team that just had it's coach fired and packed it up for the season.
If he plays something less then well, all people are going to say is that he sucks, Bowles sucks, the FO sucks and the Jets are a hopeless circus of a franchise.
Sounds like the perfect LOSE/LOSE situation for the Jets.
The only people calling for Hack to start are the people who are looking forward to him failing...I'm glad our FO and coaching staff is at least smart enough not to feed the hounds.
