I'm not sure why it's suddenly deemed crazy to redshirt a young QB.
This shit was commonplace until about 8-9 years ago when Ryan and Flacco came out and had instant success.

Jesus christ so many bitches. For years we have bitched about never developing a qb. We threw sanchez into the fire, Geno into the fire and look how they turned out. I am thrilled the CS is breaking the habitual habit of throwing in guys that are not ready to play and letting the kid learn and turn into a better player with time.
Hell I hope we sign some FA JAG to play QB next year and let Petty and whoever battle it out while we rebuild the o-line with 2018 season looking for Hack to take over the reigns. The kid has all the tools and the brains to be an elite qb in he league. Give him time to develop and see how it plays out before screaming we wasted a 2nd round pick.
And for fucks sake we are the jets, all we do is waste 2nd round picks so what fucking difference does it make if he turns out being a bust it would be status quo around this mo fucka, atleast it gives us hope for something in the future instead of us wallowing in self pitty and jealousy

So all Mac has to do is say "we're gonna red shirt him" and the pick is excused? So what if we take a OT next year in the top who Mac says we're gonna red shirt him. Would that fine? I dont know if anyone is excusing the pick, but QBs sit their first year all the time. Early round OTs, not so much.

Who the fuck cares if he plays a single snap this year? What difference is it gonna make? We are not going to know either way off of one game if he's "the future" or not. If he plays well all people are going to say is that it was a meaningless game against a team that just had it's coach fired and packed it up for the season. If he plays something less then well, all people are going to say is that he sucks, Bowles sucks, the FO sucks and the Jets are a hopeless circus of a franchise. Sounds like the perfect LOSE/LOSE situation for the Jets. The only people calling for Hack to start are the people who are looking forward to him failing...I'm glad our FO and coaching staff is at least smart enough not to feed the hounds. From MY perspective it has zero to do with what we may or may not learn about him. What we as fans "learn" about him is irrelevant. I don't care if he goes out and hands the ball off 40 times or throws 3 TDs or 3 picks. Again, it's not about what we FANS learn about him. It's about what HE could potentially learn. How about giving him his first taste of real game action, experience the speed of the game, huddle up in a real game call real plays in a real game and make a throw or 2 in a real game. Give him something to chew on over the next 6 months. Start his learning curve NOW. Or maybe just wait until next September before he sees his first real live game action. So silly not giving him just a taste before 2016 is over. _

We need to draft, trade and do whatever it takes to give Hack an 09 Sanchez style O-line in September.

IMO, the pick was predicated on Mac knowing soemthing about him we don't. Thus far in spot exposure, he's looked even worse than we feared. I don't think he'd make the same pick twice.

So are you going to share who wrote this or just ignore the multiple requests? Historically, are a lot of OTs asked to sit and learn for a year? Lots of QBs have. That's the big difference, there is a definite precedence, and actually quite a good track record, of QBs not playing their first year. Others mentioned it was roto staff writers, thought you saw. Like I said elsewhere, i don't think you can lump Hack into the general QB pool. I would have like to seen something this year, anything -- to suggest he isn't as bad as we all feared. Christ, you're a big 10 homo. You know exactly what I'm talking about. The guy was a train wreck and nothings changed.

And honestly, who cares if it's roto-staff. They're far more dialed into the league pulse that the asshole beat writers living on their own concrete islands. This 'dey hate me" bias you think exists, doesn't. We've earned every bit of their diatribe.

Any way, the point of this was just to give some outside perspective to how fucked up things are. I actually agree that starting Hackenburg this weekend doesn't serve any purpose really. Maybe some live rounds would be nice, but if they're generally trying to remold this guy, then it's not time yet.... my problem is why the fuck spend a top 50 pick on a remold. Fuckin hell.
Moving on...

That's why they needed to work that process earlier by third year, one is a rookie then they have to gel, see NYG and Pitt.

this is comedic...if you think this kid doesnt have a guaranteed spot on the roster next year whoever wrote this is smoking better shyt than I am If he completely sucks in preseason??? I mean as bad as he was this year and as bad as many of us think he is, then he will not make the team. Especially if we have a different GM/Coach. Sorry man but you are out on a limb...there will be no new coach or gm next year and he is DEFINITELY on the team next year. mark it down, double stamp, no erasies.
