I can see why the jets liked him coming out . What's obvious is that he was uncomfortable in the system after obrian left and they started messing with his mechanics and footwork , seems like a bright kid let's hope he can get his confidence back

Hack was quoted on Twitter today saying that he has been working on minor tweaks to his mechanics throughout the season, so that is positive.

This conversation really didn't go in the direction I hoped. No one can make a statement pro or con we need to see at least 20 starts. I appreciate the point you're trying to make, but that's a load of shit. Do I need to see another 5-6 starts to know what we have in D. Lee? Absolutely... Do i need another 14+ starts to know if Petty is a starting QB in the NFL? Nope...

The problem isn't with him being red shirted, it's that he sucked in college and isn't a good QB. Busts happen though, hopefully we find the future soon

He's 21 and I'm not giving up on him until he proves he's a bust.
Go back and look it up. The guy from walterfootball.com, who pretty obviously hates the Jets for some reason, had Hackenberg listed as the No. 1 overall pick about a year prior to the 2016 draft. Not that this really means anything, but some draft analysts did view him as a top prospect at one time. OK, maybe they were all wrong and he really sucks. We won't know until he plays. The point is, some people saw greatness in him at some point, and it might be just a tad premature to completely write him off before his 22nd birthday.

Never look at Walter Football for mock drafts, they change everyday. They're already doing one for 2018.....enough said. They do have good updates during the draft process so it is a worthy site in that regard.

He's 21 and I'm not giving up on him until he proves he's a bust. I hate that this topic always gets reduced to the "idea" of writing him off. No one's writing him off. Not yet... He's NFL career couldn't possible have started off any worse -- or maybe unsurprising -- as it did. My point, or at least the reason I drew attention to that snippet - is because it's not normal. This whole thing is fucked up, and we're all glossing over it because "hey, let the kid develop"... He was a top 50 pick. TOP 50. What GM in 21st century is allowed to blow a top 50 pick on a project to be redshirted? If Hackenburg's career was as impressive as Jaylon Smith's - we wouldn't be having this conversation. Except his was opposite. top 50.

Except his was opposite. top 50. Exactly. If he was a 5th or 6th round pick, fine. But he was a 3nd rounder picked by a GM who hasn't exactly had brilliant draft picks. He's had highly suspect drafts and so far he has looked more like a terrible evaluator of talent. He hasn't proven anything to say we should give him the benefit of the doubt when he's the only person in the NFL who actually thought to waste a second round pick on this guy. If his past picks are any example of his judgement, hack is gonna suck so bad that it will make Devin smith look like Jerry rice.
