So with all the investigating and leaking and whatever other BS, it comes out that some nitwit wrote in an assessment that Russians always favor Republicans over Democrats since at least Reagan.

This seems counter-intuitive at best. Republicans have been the hawks, the "must contain communism" party, the "fight the Evil Empire" party. Democrats have more in common philosophically with the Russians.
What am i missing?
