Is it better to buy a used car with 30000 miles or the same used car with 8000 miles for $2k more?
I'm thinking if you drive a lot, probably spend the extra $2k. If you only put 10000 miles on a year, then save the $$ and go the higher mileage car.
What say you?

Found a 2001 Camry with 250,000 miles. Almost no rust, clean interior, premium sound, CD and cassette, get about 28 mpg. Paid $800. Did brakes and exhaust with a friend...put new tread on... Have total of $1,200 into it. Runs like a dream..good 2nd car. Perfect "winter beater" as we said in the 80's.. Unless its a classic car, I won't piss $$ away anymore on cars....

That's the beauty of those Camrys. As long as regular maintenance was done on it (oil changes, belt replacement), those things will last forever.

Unless there was a styling change in that year which could influence your decision, the cars should be mechanically about equal. Some scheduled maintenance will be due sooner on the higher mileage model, but the 22k mileage difference is not that significant. I'd save the money and buy the higher mileage vehicle.

A fairly new car should be in no different mechanical condition at 30k miles than it is at 8k miles. Only difference is going to be how mileage is left on the warranty. You obviously get more miles covered with the car with 8k vs 30k miles. Now, is that worth the $2k difference? Depends, but i'd guess no.

If you want a car that lasts, just look what taxi companies are using. They're all using the camry's these days. Those cars can take massive beatings and they last. Plus they're fairly easy to work on and parts are cheap. You should have no problem getting yours well over 300k miles if you want to.

That's gotta cost a pretty penny to have it painted. _
