Hard to evaluate that without comparing it to other GM signings. How many free agents are still on their team 3 years later? Plus, how many of those contracts were constructed to allow the team the freedom to cut the player after 2 seasons? This is really not something you can evaluate based on a list alone.
However, that does not change my view that our 2015 FA class was disappointing. Just look at last season -- 2nd highest payroll allocated to the secondary in 2016, behind only Seattle. Most of that the result of the 2015 signings of Revis, Gilchrist and Skrine (Cro was already gone). And we had one of the worst secondaries in the league. Also, as a result of that 2015 FA signing spree, we went from a great cap situation in 2015 to an awful one in 2016, so coming off of a 10-win season, we had little to no flexibility to try to add a piece or two to get us over the top.
I have no problems with the complete overhaul of the roster -- I absolutely think it is the right thing to do for this franchise. I think it is what should have been done 2 years ago. But I can't say that Macc's track record in the draft or FA fills me with confidence that he is the right guy to execute on the "build" part of the rebuild. As a Jet fan, I am rooting for him to get it right, but like I said in my first post, I am skeptical.
