Makes me think Woody is blessing a tank job, and that Mac and Bowles are pretty safe. Be pretty shitty for an owner to cut the veteran talent and then hold your HC and GM accountable.

I was going to start a thread yesterday saying the same thing, regarding Bowles. I never thought Mac was in jeopardy, but I think Bowles might survive if young guys show promise.

So random though. Did he just wake up and was like...yeah, today is the day. Must have been having a bad day.
Now if he can just go whisper in Bowles ear "start Hack or gtfo"

But how do you can a coach when you basically give him an NCAA roster to work with? Im not a huge Bowles fan, but thats setting him up to fail.

He's probably been briefed on how terrible OTAs are going and how terrible the team looks. Mainly the QBs.

I assume you mean a sales job to the fans? Because if the Jets don't bounce back Mac will be Idzik's pool boy. I hope Woody did not put the scarlet "JV" on MacCagnan. what a mess

I think Bowles is gone unless Hack or Petty show some serious improvement in their performances. If he can't demonstrate that he can develop a QB then why would you keep him around for next year? im still gonna do my playoffs thread though.

If neither Hack not Petty show any ability to be solid NFL starters, why would you trust Macc to pick the next guy. I think that as long as the young guys show they can compete, play hard, improve as the season goes on and there are no major locker room issues, then both Macc and Bowles are likely back. If we are consistently blown out, team is fractured like last year, and there is little to no improvement during the season, then neither guy is or should be safe.

Its not going to be so much about wins and losses, but the improvement in the young talent. The majority of the roster has been in the league 3 years or less. There may be blowouts, but there needs to be effort and an appreciable delta in performance from now until the end of the season.

so what's different about this season is that we can get behind the sucking, as opposed to all other seasons, where we get angry and frustrated about the sucking
