Went to game with son and his fiancée. Section 115A, row 30, nice seats surrounded by nice people. Here are a few takeaways: Young fast and ENTHUSIASTIC. McDougle seemed on fire in the late stages. Lots of checking down by Hack, but this is fis first preseason game. There is a reason he went from no snaps in 2016 to clearly ahead of Petty. Wind sprints were going even late into the 4th quarter, yes Richardson was in on most of them and even backers (Demario) got in the spirit. D sometimes porous to the run, but fierce on the pass rush. It is always difficult to judge team success from preseason. One notable was very little drop off in the level of play as we went deep into the roster. This is either great for the scrubs or damning for the firsts. Defense looks like they could be really good if they aren't on the field too much. The first team OLine protected the QBs better than I expected and the McCown to Anderson pass was nice. I liked how our WRs fought for yardage. Hacks playbook was concerning. If McCown gets hurt I don't think Hack is ready which just makes me feel worse about the team looking better than expected because we will find a way to miss out on the top QBs in the draft.

Absolutely ... Defense may be better than top 10 ... if O doesn't make too many mistakes. It's only one pre season game, but do they remind us of the team two years ago?

Does Petty like to get hit hard? It happens to him a lot.

No he was injured. I also don't remember seeing Donahue out there so I'm not sure if he played.

DVR'd the game, watched the whole thing this AM. Of course in the 51 minutes I watched they didn't score. Fuck golf, can't wait for it to finally die. Defense looked pretty good, offense blew. Gonna be a lot of 10-0 losses this year. Al Woodall returns.

After watching the game last night, a couple things stuck
-Defense is surprisingly good... and organized/synchronized. It was weird, like a totally new team. Officially nothing from the Tanny/Rex era remained. -Receivers were better than i expected. -Hackenberg was meh -running game and oline sucked balls. -Seriously, our LBs/OLBs looked legit.

Snap counts
-----------------------------------------------
By Connor Hugheschughes@njadvancemedia.com NJ Advance Media for NJ.com It's one of the more telling statistics to come out of the preseason. Actually, it's arguably the only stat worth noting in an otherwise meaningless exhibition contest.
Who played... who didn't... and how much?
The Jets opened the preseason Saturday night against the Titans. It was -- as expected -- a rather boring contest. They won, 7-3. The pass rush looked great, and the first-team offense put together a 78-yard touchdown drive on its first positives.
Both definite positives.
But who played after the starters came out? Here's a look, followed by a couple observations:
OFFENSIVE PLAYERS [offensive snaps, special teams] G Craig Watts: 56 G Dakota Dozier: 44 QB Christian Hackenberg: 43 WR ArDarius Stewart: 32, 1 RB Jordan Todman: 29, 7 C Jonotthan Harrison: 29, 3 OT Ben Ijalana: 29, 2 OT Brandon Shell: 29, 2 TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins: 29 WR Jalin Marshall: 28, 3 RB Romar Morris: 27 OT Brent Qvale: 23, 3 OT Wesley Johnson: 23 OT Kelvin Beachum: 23 WR Frankie Hammond: 22, 6 OT Jeff Adams: 19 QB Bryce Petty: 19 OG Brandon Braeden: 19 TE Chris Gragg: 18 TE Jordan Leggett: 17, 14 RB Eli McGuire: 15, 9 TE Eric Tomlinson: 15, 6 OG Brian Winters: 15, 2 OG James Carpenter: 15, 2 WR Marquess Wilson: 15 WR Chris Harper: 15 WR Robby Anderson: 14 TE Jason Vander Laan: 13, 7 WR Myles White: 13, 3 WR Charone Peake: 12, 8 G Alex Balducci: 12 T Chris Bordelon: 11 WR Chad Hansen: 11 T Javarius Leamon: 9 WR Deshon Foxx: 9 QB Josh McCown: 9 FB Algernon Brown: 8, 2 FB Julian Howsare: 6, 9 FB Anthony Firkser: 6
DEFENSE [defensive snaps, special teams] S Doug Middleton: 43, 12 DE Corey Lemonier: 41, 1 S Ronald Martin: 38, 13 OLB Josh Martin: 38, 11 OLB Spencer Paysinger: 35, 14 OLB Jordan Jenkins: 30, 11 DE Claude Pelon: 28 CB Darryl Roberts: 27, 13 CB Derrick Jones: 27, 9 S Rontez Miles: 27, 9 OLB Julian Stanford: 26, 10 CB Marcus Williams: 26, 9 DE Patrick Gamble: 26, 1 CB Dexter McDougle: 25, 11 LB Connor Harris: 24 LB Bruce Carter: 23, 12 OLB Freddie Bishop: 21, 6 CB Juston Burris: 21, 5 DE Anthony Johnson: 20, 1 DE Lawrence Thomas: 19, 15 DE Devon Still: 13 NT Mike Pennel: 12, 2 LB Darron Lee: 11, 3 LB Demario Davis: 11, 2 CB Buster Skrine: 11, 2 S Jamal Adams: 11, 1 S Marcus Maye: 11, 1 NT Deon Simon: 11 CB Morris Claiborne: 11 CB Derrick Rivers: 10 DT Jeremy Faulk: 10 DE Leonard Williams: 9 DE Sheldon Richardson: 7 NT Steve McLendon: 6 DE Muhammad Wilkerson: 6
SPECIAL TEAMS: LS Tanner Purdum: 12 P Lachlan Edwards: 12 WR Lucky Whitehead: 6 K Chandler Catanzaro: 3 K Ross Martin: 1
TAKEAWAYS AND OBSERVATIONS NOT IN ACTION: The Jets sat most of their walking wounded, which included receiver Gabe Marks, running backs Matt Forte and Bilal Powell, safety Shamarko Thomas, cornerback Xavier Coleman, and outside linebackers Lorenzo Mauldin and Frank Beltre.
The one surprise absence here was rookie fifth-round pick Dylan Donahue, who had been working with the first-team defense. He didn't play... also because of an injury. According to Todd Bowles, he hurt his shoulder in practice this week.
LOTS OF WORK FOR THE SUSPENDED GUYS: Whenever a player begins the season suspended, it's not uncommon for them to get additional work in the preseason. Don't be taken aback by tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins' 29 snaps, and receiver Jalin Marshall's 28. The Jets want to get them in shape before they sit the first two and four games of the season respectively.
A LOT OF WORK FOR JORDAN JENKINS: Probably the surprise of the game was just how much Jenkins played. He started at outside linebacker... then worked into the fourth quarter. Jenkins isn't fighting for a roster spot, so it's curious why the Jets gave him so much extra playing time.
A TRICK: Quite awhile ago, I remember talking to a former NFL coach on the sideline of a training camp practice. He told me to always pay attention to the special teams snaps in preseason games when assessing position battles. The guys who were out there on the punt and kick team likely had the leg up in the competition. When you get to those roster-bubble guys, they have to be able to do more than just play offense and defense.
This would seem to bode well for tight end Jason Vander Laan (7), fullback Julian Howsare (9), linebacker Spencer Paysinger (14), defensive end Lawrence Thomas (15) and cornerback Dexter McDougle (11).

Weird....I just watched the game again and I saw him on the sidelines in his full uniform. Hopefully he gets in next week. Another guy that stood out was Josh Martin, dude was all over the place making plays. Middleton also looked good, hope his injury isn't serious.

Torn pectoral muscle. Likely to require surgery.
