Guy in Bar: You know, they could be a lot worse.
Construction Worker: Ya know, these guys ain't so fuckin' bad.
Groundskeeper #2: They're still shitty.
Granted, 1 preseason game, and against the Titans, but they actually didn't suck as much as I (we?) thought.

This is where they win 6 games and pick at 20 in the draft

I videoed the game and just watched. It's still going to be a very long season but I was impressed with the controlled throws they called for Hack. He was kept on a very short leash and reacted well to situations. I hope to see continued improvement in his throws and reads.

We're gonna be 3-2 after 5 games. This is gonna be like Rexs first year, just watch.

All comes down to Hack...which we need to see much more of...

ALWAYS Finishing 9-7/10-6 with Hack showing a ton of promise along the way is the best possible scenario. Then you go into the offseason with at least 8 draft picks (maybe more if we trade Sheldon in the next 2-3 months) and around $80 million to spend in FA to invest heavily in the OL and receiving corps. I know everyone is obsessed with the QB's potentially coming out next year, but Hack looking like the real deal at 22 years old is the ultimate positive outcome here.

Just a heads up, if you missed the game on Saturday night, NFL Network is showing the replay in a half hour.

Additionally, in watching the sideline interaction during the Jets/Titans game, there appears to be some genuine comradery on the team. I don't know if that will translate to growth as a team or improvement in positions deemed lacking in talent, but it certainly cannot hurt. This definitely will be an interesting season. I believe the players when they said they are not going to tank anything. Finishing with the worst record, or second to worst record does not guarantee anything as far as drafting a franchise QB. I say, play hard, don't quit, make improvements/adjustments, show situational awareness, draft wisely, show growth/improvements as far as the coaching staff, bring in quality free agents in 2018 to build on the young talent which emerges from the 2017-18 season.

Yeah I mean you can't get players to tank. Ultimately they don't give a fuck about the first pick. Many of them won't be around and stats = $ in the NFL. It will suck to miss out on a good QB if the team plays hard and wins (assuming Hack isn't the answer), but at least it means we don't have a bunch of bums. I'm with you. It's exciting to see the players engaged. I'd rather watch a young and hungry 3-13 team than a old and lazy 3-13 team.

This is what this team has done to its fans..whether they be in their 50's or 30's or 20's. We find solace in the slightest bit of positivity.

My dad was at Super Bowl 3. He apologizes constantly for the suffering he has burdened me with. Edit: Not sure how a sad face became a beer emoji but I'll take it.

Last year was the first time I actually considered it a possibility that I might die before I see another Jets SB win. I was 5 for their first one and don't remember seeing it. I didn't give a shit during the off season and wasn't amped up for the draft for the first time ever. Then training camp rolls around, I get excited about the D, see the first preseason game and Hack doesn't suck, and I get excited again. I hope that when I die its in my sleep during the off season. Nothing would suck more then to be in a hospital hooked up to a bunch of shit during another 6-10 season as the kicker misses a game winning FG as time and I expire.

I am a couple of years older than you -- I do have memories of watching the Jets playing in the SB, so at least I have that, but I have had the same thought. Now that I am well into my 50s -- I just want to see them play in one more SB. Don't care if we win it or not, I just want to see my team win an AFC Championship and play for the Lombardi. (i will probably feel differently about the winning part if/when we get there). That is all that matters to me -- build a SB caliber team and if we have to take a step back for a season or two, so be it. If I don't get to see them make it to the SB, I hope at least my son can see it someday. It happened last year for some of my Cub fan friends, so I guess there is a chance it can happen for us.
