Jets CEO backs coach Bowles, GM Maccagnan, denies tanking in progress...
All the nasty talk about the Jets tanking rankles the team's new CEO.
Christopher Johnson told reporters Wednesday that 0-2 Gang Green is "definitely not tanking."
"I want to win every game. Every player in that locker room wants to win. What you're seeing are growing pains," Johnson said, per NFL.com. "I mean, these are young guys. There are some older guys on the team and some of them are doing an extraordinary job. But I think you're going to see this team get better and better and better." ... Further, Johnson said, coach Todd Bowles and general manager Mike Maccagnan will be evaluated on the amount of progress made rather than on the team's record. Johnson told reporters he will make the call on both men.
A reading of some of Johnson's comments make it seem as though they have a reasonable chance of sticking around after the season ends Dec. 31 in Foxborough. Johnson said he was "really impressed" with Bowles and praised the third-year coach's ability to connect with players. He called Maccagnan an "extraordinary talent evaluator." ...
Johnson was put in charge of the organization after his brother Woody, the Jets' longtime owner, was confirmed as U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom in the offseason. Christopher Johnson said his brother is too busy being a diplomat to worry about football, but the two men are essentially on the same page.
"My brother said back early in the spring to not judge the team on wins and losses but (rather) progression and I agree with that," Christopher Johnson said. ...

He also said "I hope the fans will buy into our plan".
If this idiot thinks that a plan to get incrementally better week by week so that we win a few games at the end of the year and end up 4-12 or 5-11 and finish with the 4 or 5th pick in the draft is a plan us fans "will buy into" then he is sorely mistaken.
Here's the plan we'll all buy into, Bub.
Play hard. Show progress. Especially the youngsters.
Lose every fucking game and get us a franchise QB. Then spend freely in FA to surround said QB with an Oline and playmakers on offense.
No other plan.

It all starts at the top. No wonder this franchise has turned into an absolute black hole.
Until we get an owner who at the very least ran something or built something, we will trudge along the bottom like this seemingly forever.

Can we at least wait until the guy has actually done something before killing him over some benign comments he made in his first meeting with the press. Nobody is going to publicly admit to a tank, he showed support for the front office, and talked about potential development of young players.
And he is getting killed for that???

I really dont have a problem with what he said - any owner / CEO is going to say we're trying, its about development, etc. He gave the standard lip service. He's not going to trash the coach and GM publicly in week 3.
Now the fact that he and Woody havent really ever built any business themselves is a fair point, but this interview wasnt that bad.

The narrative that Woody inherited all his money is false.
As a young man he used his inheritance to build an investment company and killed it real estate and quadrupled his money. Also he only worked at Jand J as an intern out of college and has no connection to them now.
He's no dummy.

I spend some time at JetNation because our football discussions here seem to be fewer and fewer. It was exhausting. We might not agree on stuff here, but at least people are rational. Buncha crazy dicks doing a lot of posting over there.

Buncha crazy dicks doing a lot of posting over there. I think the football discussion here runs dry sometimes because in our eyes there's not much to discuss with this football team right now, we all agree that they suck and nothing's goin to change. They will beat a topic to death and debate the strength of Macc's coffee over at JN.

Is this like "can we at least wait until Hack takes one snap in a real game before we say he sucks?" Lol kidding. I'm not going to kill this guy for his opening comments, he basically said all the right things and really couldn't promise any more. _
