Love Disney Land, and Disney World, best place next to Vegas to people watch. You should cut through Florida on your way from Tenn to Ore then! ========================= Or I could drop in on Disney Land when I roll through SoCal. Was thinking about fling to Virginia Beach or Charleston and renting a car, then meet up with my sister in JC, just so I could say I have driven coast to coast.

Looking for some advice on places to stay and where not to stay, might not even bother with the headache of renting a car and just taking shuttles, something with a decent pool. Might need to get a pic with a turkey leg on a gastropod mobile Grand Floridian looks like the nicest of the resort hotels, think it's modeled after a hotel here in San Diego the hotel de Coronado.Beach club looked cool think 32 green stayed there Check out the treetop villas at the aaratoga springs resort...they looked cool That's exactly what it's modeled after. My sister-in-law got married in the Grand Floridian about 7 years ago. It's one of, if not, the highest end hotel on the Disney properties in Florida. There are a few others like the Polynesian (nice Hawaiian style resort, stayed there in 2012) and the Contemporary which are on the monorail line. It's a little spendy but staying at a hotel on the monorail line and not having to take buses is a HUGE benefit if you're going to be park hopping. We're looking at lining up our last major Disney trip in the next 12 months as well. The girl is still little enough and princess crazy that I think we need to make one last venture before her wide-eyed, believe in everything days disappear. On a separate note, you're never too old for DisneyWorld. The wife and I find one night without the kids for a date night and do something like Beers Around the World at Epcot and hit the bars on Boardwalk or in DownTown Disney.

Yeah, we can't afford the Floridian... walking_home_crying-1328 not with upcoming home improvement projects coming up. My kids say they don't want to have anything to do with the Magic Kingdom...but we'll see what their reaction is when we get there. Anyways we booked it last night, so we're going in early May, we're staying at the Port Orleans/Riverside...great reviews all around for the price, and it's a huge resort with 2 huge pools and 5 smaller ones. I can even go fishing there, which is a plus

I'm going to Narragansett in June, right on the ocean.
Hopefully no mouth breathing beached sloths.

First, there is no age cut off for Disney, the cut off is when you simply do not ant to go anymore.
This biggest problem is most people go during their kids school break, for you guys Fed12-19, give or take. These places are a mad house during school breaks.
I don't know if you are restricted to Disney properties or not because of the Visa, if not I suggest staying off site to save a few bucks, if you are hanging at Disney down town you will need it. Epcot for the older kids and adults is killer. My daughter has done a couple films and a ton of print adds that shot up there and when they did not rent her a house she loved to stay at the Ramada Gateway on 192. It is nothing special and frankly a dive motel compared to what you can get up there, but the Gateway is cool because the hotel surrounds the pool and a courtyard, if you get a pool side room it is like having an indoor pool in your house.
Last time we stayed we stayed at the Hilton Bonnet Creek, absolutely beautiful. In my opinion, the nicest non Disney hotel, is the Gaylord Palms. For about $249.00 a night you can get an atrium view, a must, and just relax. Nice water features for the pool that accommodates kids real well as well as adults, the atrium is really something to experience. If someone said to me, I am dying and going to Disney, I want none property, I would recommend Gaylord Palms. There are higher end hotels, but this place has it all. The atrium is a park with rivers, water falls, animal life as well as alligators, bars and restaurants and shops all under an atrium.
Good luck and enjoy.

We are specifically targeting one of the slower weeks - everyone goes when their kids are on spring break - fuck that noise. We looked at the Disney crowd calendar and saw the slowest week - that's when we're going lol. Not to hot yet in May, and we're not in hurricane season = done deal. I don't get why some parents are SO against taking their kids out of school for a week to go on vacation. They will be going to boring-ass school for many years to come, a week out of their lives isn't going to make a huge difference. A week on vacation will give them memories that should last a lifetime.
