This. Their biggest fear-rational or irrational depending on your view- is the enactment of a national gun registry- mandatory federal registration of all existing guns. Then a nut job gets the big desk, signs an executive order somehow circumventing the 2nd amendment and says "if we only had a list of every gun I could send storm troopers out there to confiscate them- oh wait, we HAVE that list." _ Agree. But it becomes an issue way lower down the chain than that. Some loony activist working for a gubmint agency gets access to the list and leaks it to a newspaper who would be more than happy to publish the names of the law abiding gun owners so the rabid anti-gun people can harass and shame them. Or worse. I think we did see something like this happen after Sandy Hook. I think there was an upstate Newspaper Publisher who got ahold of gun owners addresses through a FOIL request...then published the info in her paper. If I recall, it then took about a day for her address, a photo of her home and her Drivers license photo to circulate all over the interenets.

Re: gun owner lists, after Sandy Hook a local Westchester paper did publish info on all registered gun owners in the area. IIRC, they got it through the Freedom of Information Act, and not any sort of subterfuge.

The guy who wrote the article was also upfront, I believe, about being a registered gun owner himself if I remember.
And I think technically the list was a list of people who are licensed to own guns, not necessarily people who own guns, or how many, etc. I believe that was their splitting hairs excuse for publishing the list.

Kristof is an idiot. Not to mention the guy apparently lived in Ohio, Florida, and now New Jersey, where he was driving for Uber (and passed their background checks), and never lived in or would have had to buy a gun in, NYC, to carry this out.

“The Diversity Visa Program is an unfortunate blind spot in our immigration system that has outlived whatever purpose it might have had,” Kephart explained in her testimony in 2011. “The applicants for these 50,000 ‘visa lottery’ immigration slots require few skills. Neither their qualifications nor identity can be properly vetted. The program does not know, really, who these applicants are or their true purpose in coming to the United States. The program is a national security vulnerability and has been used by terrorists and organized criminals to not only enter the United States but to bring others in as well.” The bolded is the crux of the issue with any of these programs. We can't or don't thoroughly vet the recipients of these slots. So you take someone with potentially no skills, from a known terrorist supporting country, and you know little to nothing about them, and let them in? Seems a recipe for success!

It was an act of arrogance and provocation that served no purpose other than to make law-abiding citizens targets. Names, addresses AND an interactive map to pinpoint the homes? Bad guys read the papers too...how many of us have neighbors we would rather not know our business and are fuckin nuts or have kids with drug problems (it happens in the best of nabes!!!!)? Just liberal stupidity and condescension. Just because you can...doesnt mean you should. The fact that the Publisher hired armed guards to protect her and her staff afterwards was amusing as well. higher by how much by like the 3,000 that were killed in basically the same spot 16 years ago by guys with.....uh.... boxcutters? Dead on.

Did you take a look at the scum of the earth who perpetrated this latest attack. Disgusting fuck who has no right or reason to be here. Why are we letting these animals in? Ugliest humans on the planet. Dumber than dirt too. Stupid imbeciles. Mentally fucked up. What purpose does it serve? The Dems can take that kind of diversity and shove it up their fucking ass.
