I wonder if this is really true. Baker Mayfield agent: Patriots plotted stunning trade with GiantsBy Howie Kussoy The Patriots were prepared to land Tom Brady’s successor — and stick it to the Jets — all at once. If Baker Mayfield had not been selected by the Cleveland Browns with the first-overall pick in the draft, Mayfield’s agent, Jack Mills, said that New England was going to try to trade with the Giants for the second pick, in order to take the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback. “We knew that the Jets at [No.] 3 was the bottom line,” Mills said on NFL reporter Andrew Brandt’s podcast. “We had another team that said, ‘You may get a big surprise on draft day at No. 2 if he is available.’ And that team was the Patriots.” Multiple teams that met with Mayfield before the draft were “well aware” that Mayfield’s group believed the Patriots were truly interested in taking him — following last season’s trades of backups Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett — and that New England attempted to have Mayfield visit them, according to The MMQB. The former Oklahoma quarterback initially declined to go, but a meeting was then set up after the Patriots acquired the 23rd pick of the draft in a trade with the Rams, giving New England ammunition to move up, with two first-round picks and two second-round picks. Instead, Brady will be 41 entering next season, with 32-year-old Brian Hoyer the only other quarterback on New England’s roster. nypost.com/2018/05/01/baker-mayfield-agent-patriots-plotted-stunning-trade-with-giants/

I doubt it. What could they have given the Giants to make them want to drop from 2 to 23

The pats two number ones (23 & 31) and two number twos (44 & 56) only had a draft value of 2160 & the giants second round pick had a value of 2600.
They would have had to make up the rest of the value with, at the very least, next years #1 and probably quite a bit more. Moving up that far would have cost them more that the trade value chart.

They could have thrown in all the video they have of the Giants, a copy of Belicheck's book called "How to cheat, get caught and continue to cheat to succeed" which won't be released to the public until he retires or he could give them a promise to coach for them next which after one day he will submit his old napkin saying he is no longer the coach of the NYJG.

I've said it before, when Cheatin' Tom's skills leave him it will happen quickly and dramatically. It will take a lot of Cheats fans who think he can go on forever by surprise. At age 41 the Cheaters are on a thin timeline for their HOF (Cheater) QB. They should of kept Jimmy G.
