Don't understand the rush to trade Bridgewater. Especially the fascination with 1st round crapshoots when (potentially) we have a known entity. If he turns out better then Sam you don't trade him just because we invested a fortune in Sam. Either one, if both are star quality, will be worth plenty 2 years down the road. And QBs do get hurt. How many of the 1st round picks below were worth a Superbowl quality QB? Where would Philly be if they didn't have 2 great QBs? 10 years of 1st round picks:2008 6 Vernon Gholston 30 Dustin Keller 2009 5 Mark Sanchez 2010 29 Kyle Burnt Toast Wilson 2011 30 Muhammad Wilkerson 2012 16 Quinton Coples 2013 9 Dee Milliner 13 Sheldon Richardson 2014 18 Calvin Pryor 2015 6 Leonard Williams 2016 20 Darron Lee 2017 6 Jamal Adams 2018 3 Sam Darnold Problem is Bridgewater is a 1 year rental. Unless we can tag him to get him for another year or 2 you have to get something for him by the trade deadline or he walks for free. Even then can you afford to franchise him next year? I think it would be prohibitive even with our projected cap space.

First off, I like Bridgewater. But there is a very good chance that he will never get another chance to be a starting QB. He will likely spend the rest of his career being considered as "damaged goods". A good player that could easily be one step away from a career ending injury. And yes, that could be said about any player. But in Bridgewater's case, he already had that injury and defied all odds to come back from it. If I'm a GM, I never consider him as a long term starting option again. Not saying I'm right, but if I was a GM, I sure as hell wouldn't invest any real coin in a player at the QB position who had that kind of injury.
The Jets are not a serious contender this year. We are building for the future. As as part of that build, we traded away next years second round pick. And as horrid as we have been with second round picks, it would be nice to have one next year. So if Teddy nets us a second round pick, I'd friggin' jump at it. But I honestly don't think any GM considers him worth that. But I would take a third round pick for him as well. But I honestly no so sure any GM considers him worth that either.
Anything less than a third and we might as well keep him and see if some team becomes desperate enough to pony up. At the money we're paying him, it would not be the worst thing to keep him.

Just wanted to stroke my own yoke a bit. Called this move a few weeks ago. Didn't believe they would play any of the "big 3" in the last game. But if this kid looks good, and Teddy gets traded he could make the club or practice squad.

Had an open roster spot so they decided to add him now.

I hope the kid does well. His one last chance at football before he goes to work at Barclays. Rough life
