Searched and couldn't find this posted here, and I'm only posting the link and some quotes because it's way to long and some here would quote it driving us crazy. It's an opinion article, you might disagree, but I found it a great summary of Rex's time here. Some great comparisons of Rex to Homeless Hoodie. Most notable was this:
" Officially now, both [Rex and Homeless Hoodie] botched their first head coaching jobs."
If he learns from his six years here, I personally think Rex is headed to Homeless Hoodie's level of HOF coach. Don't get me wrong, Rex had to be fired as part of his evolution, but wherever he lands will end up being a bigger nightmare for us than NE when we do play.
The lead:
"Rex’s Last Stand
Rex Ryan’s incredible run as the Jets’ leading man ended in spectacular, Chernobyl-level disaster. But does anyone doubt he’ll be back — bigger than ever?"
And this:
"The NFL has seen some great showmen over the years: Namath; Jerry Glanville; Bum Phillips (we really can’t find another coach to either wear a cowboy hat or call himself “Bum”?); Rex’s dad, Buddy; even Jerry Jones.
But there’s never been anyone like Rex Ryan. This is a man who (a) maxed out the barnstorming potential of the digital age, (b) simultaneously authored both some of the greatest coaching performances of the generation and some of the worst football ever played (the Internet equally devours the genius and the train wreck), and (c) successfully marketed himself to fans not just in New York but everywhere as the fun-loving, recognizably human challenge to the staid, corporate, calculating side of the NFL represented by villainous androids like Roger Goodell."
Really a great read if you have some time:
