Mac is to stupid to trade down since he cant draft a player past the the top 5 because that to complicated for him he will stay and draft best player that falls to him. Only 3 players Mac drafted that are decent were top 5 players. The guy is dumbest GM to ever field a team even If he trades out of top 5 then the Jets will draft nothing. Better he stays pat because he is to stupid he had entire front office to tell him to take Alvin Kamara and he still passed because he is an idiot.

I think if Mac trades down gets a good return someone should escort him to a closet and lock him in there until draft is over then Christopher should come to this board and we will tell him who to draft. That way we will finally have somthing that resembles a team.

And we ended up passing on both Orlando Pace and Walter Jones in favor of James Farrior. I remember that - lol "but his name rhymes with 'warrior!'" Those QB vets (except possibly Foles) are Case Keenum level really - I think that's everyone's fallback and no GMs plan. It's been so rare for QBs not to go at the very top of the draft but - I agree - I don't see this as a ransom-level haul. And given the generally weak draft at places we need, we may be better off selecting 'can't miss' Josh Allen.

Good thinking ... but I can't help looking at what the Raiders could offer. They could give us #7 and # 27 in the second round and still have numbers 24 & 35 & 66 in the second and third rounds for themselves ... With Denver we're talking #s 10 & 41 ... which is okay. Not much difference looking at what Tampa, Jax, and the Bengals have to offer. Hope for some reason the Raiders want the # 3. But then again, they could just as easily trade for the number 1 or 2 giving up the same two picks. But I'm with you about getting as many early picks as possible. You think the Raiders could trade up to #1 for their 1 & 2? I don’t see that. Raiders have Carr, so before they do any up trading they'd have to decide against him for next year ... and I don't see that. Probably will stay where they are with all those picks ... but the Jets are pretty active right now ... two signings to think about ... CB Arthur Maulet to a reserve/future deal ... Maulet split the 2018 season between the Colts and the Saints. He played in five games for the Colts and made one start before being waived and landing with the Saints. Claiborne and Skrine are set to be free agents. Johnson, Nickerson, Jones and Rashard Robinson are under team control for 2019. Looks like they're setting themselves up at CB and they have Eric Smith. With two weeks left in the regular season, Smith voluntarily left the Patriots practice squad to join the New York Jets. Jets made a run at him when he was cut by the Dolphins at the end of pre-season ... and again at Week 11 when starting right tackle Brandon Shell went on injured reserve ...He left the Pats because he sees their line real firm and feels a better chance to make a name for himself with the Jets next season. So they're firming up the OL at this time too. One more thing ... Esiason said the Giants should have drafted Sam Darnold ... it was a mistake and it may be a home run for Jets under Adam Gase He said this at a press conference ... here's the article ... www.nj.com/jets/2019/01/boomer-esiason-giants-should-have-drafted-sam-darnold-heres-why-hell-be-a-home-run-for-jets-under-adam-gase.html

One look at the draft order reveals something very interesting 3. Jets 4. Raiders 6. Giants 7. Jaguars 10. Broncos 11. Bengals Each of those teams will be calling the Jets inquiring a trade up. The most likely party: The Broncos. Why? The need for a QB, the need to jump the Raiders for one, the need to jump 3 other QB-needy teams, the need to give their new HC a splash of a player with whom to grow old. Every team hears offers to trade down, but given these teams in their relatively similar situations, a good deal will inevitably come. Will Mac pull the trigger? There are 7 players with whom I would be happy - Bosa, Williams, Allen, Williams, Little, Taylor, Ford. While a trade down to 10 would be risky, it will probably be worth the bounty. Maybe a trade with a desperate Jaguars team makes more sense. Unless Bosa is available, the Jets simply must make this trade.
You can never be happy, though.
'Cause if you were, that would destroy your gimmick.

This. Last time we traded down in the first round, that fat ass Bill Parcells was coach. And we ended up passing on both Orlando Pace and Walter Jones in favor of James Farrior. James Farrior wasn't a bad player, though.

That says more about the Jets incompetence then in developing players.
Thank god that Sam will develop IN SPITE of the Jets. lol

Look at what I said above this ... we are moving to next season as of right now ... we have our coaching staff in place ... we are firming up our offensive line and corner back locations ... we will furthermore enhance both of those areas and will firm up wide receiver, edge rusher, and running back in free agency and via the draft. AND ... AND IF WE FUCK UP IN THESE AREAS THEN WE HAVE ONE CRETIN TO PLACE THE BLAME COMPLETELY ON ... MACCAGNAN THE FUCKING IDIOT .. MACCAGNAN THE FUCKING IDIOT.

Nah; Herm switched to the 4-3; Tampa-2. Farrior could stop teh run and BLITZ but he struggled in coverage. We got Eric Barton to cover sideline to sideline after farrior left
