The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reports the Jets are interested in impending free agent Donte Moncrief.
Moncrief mostly disappointed during his one year in Jacksonville, catching 48 passes for 668 yards and three touchdowns. With Jermaine Kearse and Rishard Matthews headed to free agency, the Jets do not have much behind Robby Anderson, who is almost certain to be retained as a restricted free agent, and Quincy Enunwa on the depth chart. Even in a weak receiver class, Moncrief will be lucky to get the $9.6 million the Jaguars paid him last season.

That will be an upgrade over "completely"
He did have Blake Bortles throwing to him. Curious to parse what the FO may like about this guy.....

Way to surround Sam with big time targets you losers.

SOURCE: New York Daily News Feb 26, 2019, 11:52 AM Im not going to try and sell Moncrief as some stud #1 receiver, but to say he was a disappointment is lazy reporting and analysis. He was playing in a run heavy Jacksonville offense with a mediocre QB. He wound up the Jags second leading WR in yardage, first in YPC (13.9), third in receptions (damn, they threw to TJ Yeldon the RB 55 times!) He actually had his second most yards in his career, the only time higher was with Indy when he had 64 catches. With a real QB like Andrew Luck, Moncrief put up pretty decent numbers and TD rate. Again, not a #1, but at the right price, not a horrible pickup for a team losing a bunch of WRs. He was a good red zone target for Indy, and is only 25. And he wont get $9.6 million almost assuredly.

"mostly" That will be an upgrade over "completely" He did have Blake Bortles throwing to him. Curious to parse what the FO may like about this guy..... Big body, decent numbers in Indy with Andrew Luck esp as a red zone target, only 25, might be a reasonable price tag based on stats in a run-heavy Jax offense...
