I think one of the more interesting dynamics if Quinn does is in fact become the head coach will be how the situation with Percy Harvin is handled. Harvin was in Seattle and obviously Quinn knows him and his situation well, , it will be interesting to see if the team moves on from Harvin with Quinn's influence or if Harvin gets a new slate with Quinn, the Jets, and the new regime.

Good question. I'm Guessing if he feels he can help and behave they will try to renovate his contract. If he thought he was an asshole in Seattle its probably bye bye.

At $10M per year, no Cap hit for releasing him, and only giving up a 6th round pick instead of a 4th, I think a new GM will say bye bye to Harvin and try to build the Jets from the ground up.

He'll be cut but we may try to re-sign him to a decent deal. His age helps him out.

But talent like Harvin doesn't grow on trees, still a young player.
I would be more in support of releasing him to salvage the pick and re-signing him at a cap friendly deal.
But with Quinn, that could change the landscape.

You could be right. And hell, if Peyton decides to hang it up, I think there's a realistic possibility that Demaryius Thomas decides to test the market. And if we decide to get rid of Harvin, we suddenly have around $64 million to spend. Cut some additional dead weight like CJ, Babin and Cumberland and that number moves closer to the $70 mill mark. More than enough to sign 2-3 upper tier free agents and a few mid tier guys. Signing Thomas and Iupati and then adding a CB like Maxwell and upgrading the LB corps would be amazing.

You should have asked the question....What would Maccagnan do? Although not confirmed he should be the GM.

Don't forget the fact that The Jets HAVE to spend some serious cash these next two offseasons in order to avoid getting fined for spending below the floor.

The GM will ask him to renegotiate; Harvin's agent will advise him not to. Another shitty move by Idzik. We gave up $6 million in cap space, when the season was already over.

For the record, Quinn and Harvin both "went" (Quinn coaching, Harvin playing) to Florida so there's some sort of a connection there. While I'm sure they crossed paths plenty in Seattle it's hard to say how much a DC and a WR actually interacted in their time together...
