I wouldn't have an issue with Williams, Howard, or even trading down a few spots. I think too early to take S Jones. Par, any thoughts on Mixon in the 3rd/4th round area? I think Mixon's sexy as hell on the field.. but same reasons why i don't think they take Cook, is the same why they pass on Mixon. Management doesn't have the locker-room infrastructure and stable PR yet.

I respect the logic from you fellas. I just see more for Williams -- he's just coming into his own. Jeffery? Yea he was a FA Touchable cause his hammies are cheese strings he got suspended in a contract year. Brandon Marshall had lots of personal problems over the years and different color jerseys to show for it. Green, Julio, Calvin. Fitz... 1 color. 1 team. I personally prefer Cook too jetstream23 but i don't think Mike has the balls. Howard is legit, but he's not the quite the Receiver people are making out to be. Engram & Everett have better hands and catch the ball more naturally. So you're overpaying for his blocking ability at #6... remember Ebron?

I'm taking Howard in this scenario I like Williams, but I don't see him ever being an elite #1. Howard can be a total difference maker from the start and be a 10-12 year rock at a position that's plagued us for the last quarter century. And even though I love Sidney Jones, I couldn't take him in the 2nd with that Achilles tear. That injury has the potential to be absolutely devastating for a CB. If he's there at the top of the 3rd, go for it. But I'd rather land a corner like Moreau/Conley/Jackson or an OLB like Watt/Anderson/Harris with that 2nd rounder. middle 2nd round is reasonable risk for a top 10 pick who was injured (significantly but not permanently)... that's my opinion anyway. The other options mid-second just aren't passing on Jones in 2018 for. I think some of you are maybe letting superfluous agility smoke from the combine cloud the judgement room. Mike Williams is undeniable someone's #1 WR. he's the definition of a X/split end. He wins against top corners and basically put the team on his back for big plays vs 'Bama. This team needs a #1 WR, and will never get one like Williams in FA... does it matter in 2 or 3 years if we took him at #6 or #16?... I don't think so. PS> love Howard, but he's not a good enough receiver to warrant picking over Williams.

I can definitely see your top 5 going that way Williams at 6? I wouldn't hate it, but I don't see the athleticism with him to warrant a top 10 pick. I like him a lot, but you have to be very special for me to love taking a WR in the top 10. I'd probably take Watson at 6 in your scenario. I'm fine with doubling up in the secondary, but, for the reasons UT stated, I don't love taking Jones at 38. I'm happy with the 3rd and 4th round I don't know enough about your 6th and 7th round guys to opine 1 way or the other problem with Watson @ 6 is the margin for success is lulu-lemon tight. Taking him would suggest A) that hack was a mistake or isn't close to ready -- either way it's a red flag of incompetence. B) by taking watson you've basically tied yourself to his success in year #1... not even his development. He has to win now, or your ass is grass if you're Mike M... don't see him making that call.

Not much left to speculate on. I surmise we'll sign QB J. McCown and then team visits will maybe give us some direction to go off of
No one cares and reads the rest of my mocks after Jets pick, so i'm just doing the top half
1) CLE - Garrett 2) SF - S. Thomas 3) CHI - M. Lattimore 4) CAR - (Trade w/ Jax); L. Fournette... per Cam's request 5) TEN - J. Adams 6) NYJ - M. Williams WR... best player on their board at position of need 7) LAC - J. Allen 8) JAX - OJ Howard 9) CIN - R. Foster 10) BUF - M. Trubisky... unexpected value for them 11) NOS - D. Barnett 12) NE (trade w/ CLE for JG) - M. Hooker 13) ARZ - D. Watson 14) TB (Trade w/Phi) D. Cook.... offense will be sick. 15) IND - Q. Wilson 16) BAL - C. Robinson
Rest of Jets draft
*Jets trade back w/ MIN who covet Kamara, gaining picks #48, #86 and #129, MIN also gets our #150 *Richardson is dealt for conditional 2018 pick to DAL

*yawn* ^^
Pretty routine Jets WR right there.
"Hey, I know... let's fill the Marshall void with, Bolden!"
"Isn't he retired, Mike?"
"Not that one, Victor... You know, Oregon state... Cmon guys?"

I agree with you on McCown, but I am not sure what Daniel would give us. The guy has thrown less passes and started fewer games in 7 seasons than Petty has in 2. Daniel seems to be one of those smart backup / pseudo coach types. Kind of like a Gary Kubiak type of QB. Apparently very smart and an asset in teaching guys the scheme. Could be an asset to Morton, given they both have a background in the Saints' style of O. Couple years ago there was optimism about Daniels being the next "back-up" to emerge as a starter (ala Delhomme or Schaub) but he failed to dazzle in KC and looked AWFUL last year in preseason. Worse than the camp arms that were rolling w/ the 4s. Forget Daniels, that book is finished.

Draft is starting in less than a week. Paradis (Browns) will be on the clock beginning at 10AM ET on Thursday, March 23. Please check in in this thread as we have several posters that have not been on the site in nearly a month. JonEJet lray pcola jif Please check in and let us know if you are still planning to be part of our draft. Below is link to our draft spreadsheet -- everything will be tracked in the sheet which is accessible in google. Hollywood Nosebleed and I will keep the sheet updated as the draft proceeds. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yHG5_Ub-3Y2cAY50wi3_H2jLoH_qGLZSLrkLTbc150Q/edit?usp=sharingAnd a quick shoutout to Beerfish for putting together the player listing. I added any player that was listed on CBS.com to BF's list so we have over 1,000 players listed on the sheet. You still can draft a player that is not listed (just requires me to manually add them to the draft sheet). You are not limited to players listed. most of them are recruits from JN... i'll be sure to check in with them on the 22nd.

Mike Williams 4.50 at his Pro Day. Pro day times tend to be quicker than combine, but still good time for him. He should be in the equation at 6. and indeed he is. firmly i might add - according to my imagined sources.

Matt MillerVerified account @nfldraftscout Talking to scouts about Jonathan Allen. Definite concerns about shoulders. Feeling he'll drop to 12-17 range. And apparently Takk McKinley scored a 3 on the wonderlic. No wonder he couldn't follow directions during the combine drills. and so dissipates my dark horse top 10 pick. maybe he's back in rnd2 discussion? I doubt it, but one can dream.

CLaiborne is a nice get. Unlikely he'll play 16 games, but it's a step

meh. 2 games so what. We're not chasing the playoffs next year.
He's a beast!
I'm not cool with Howard over Williams/Davis -- but Engram/Everett/Hodges/Sprinkle == SHPRETZA!!

It's beyond comprehension. No investment on offense (if you want to include a recovering Beachum, fine) and no sense of direction with leadership. I don't want to give the impression that big $$ in FA is the answer, but I'm just (again) not entirely sure I get what the big picture is here. What investment on offense were you looking for from FA this offseason? QB - yeah right RB - we've been down that road - waste of money to spend on RBs, they're a dime a dozen, espcially the ones who are out there in FA WR - Jets are rolling with the kiddie corps which is the right move. Did you want them to throw big money at Jeffery, Pryor or Jackson? TE - Bennett, Cook and Doyle were the best available. Bennett - no thank you, Doyle was never gonna leave Indy and Cook is not the answer - there will be good value in the draft at this position G- we made a great move investing low money into Winters well before the G market blew up at the start of FA C - who? we released the best one available. I comfortable giving Johnson the chance to start 16 this year T - who? Whitworth and Rieff were the best two available...no thank you. I'll take my chances on a mid level deal with Beachum Fact of the matter is, there was nothing worth investing in on the offensive side of the ball in FA. Now, if you want to argue that the Jets should have thrown more money into landing a big FA corner....that I can buy. But considering this FO's track record in signing FA corners, I'm kind of happy they played it a little gun shy this offseason. I’m glad you asked. FTR; I’m not judging management based on volume of activity – it’s more about what they do, and what those decisions say about their agenda. I wouldn’t argue with the points you’re making necessarily. I agree with a lot of it on some level. Definitely wouldn’t have done anything at RB/TE. Draft has too much to offer. Not sure I like Winters enough to sign him over some of the FAs, but that’s nitpicking. I do value having someone like Whitworth however over Beachum just because of how important it is to give someone like Hackenberg proper protection if we’re going to learning anything about his development. Definitely could use another veteran at WR too. Not a great market to find one tho. Speaking of QB though, I do have a problem with the way their handling. Still doesn’t feel like they know what they’re doing. We seem to make decisions whimsically. Why isn’t a bandaide like McCown here? Or Hoyer? Mismanaging that position is what loses a lockeroom and leads to personalities acting out. Mac is in hard place with the way the chips have fallen (and he’s had a hand in putting us in that situation). If we don’t get some semblance of competence at QB this year – I’m not sure I trust his making a pick next year to solve that problem… but if he overplays his hand, and over pays for mediocrity, then we’re stuck losing that opportunity and continue this path of tail-chasing.

Getting back on track though, are we really making a run at Hightower? What would be the point of that. This team is worse than the Jews wandering in the desert, good lord. It's beyond comprehension. No investment on offense (if you want to include a recovering Beachum, fine) and no sense of direction with leadership. I don't want to give the impression that big $$ in FA is the answer, but I'm just (again) not entirely sure I get what the big picture is here.
