FWIW I hear the symptoms are wide ranging from mild flu-like symptoms to respiratory failure. We are learning more every day. There is information coming out of China but it seems like that is highly unreliable given the fact they are run by communist shitbags. I dont know anybody, yet. Thankfully. Best wishes to all and their loved ones. I read the China info as well, and yes...hard to trust it. I don't know anyone sick yet. My daughter is due to give birth mid-April. Her doctor is telling her her husband might nor be allowed to be with her which is crappy. Just hoping the doctor doesn't get sick and there are open beds when the time comes! Brother was supposed to get hip replacement...thats on hold. Sucks for him, he's in a ton of pain. He waited forever to get approval. But the good news is I turn 60 in a week....I'll be eligible for early morning grocery shopping!  Good luck to your daughter and brother. |

I understand why they are preserving resources for only non-elective surgeries but I imagine there are a ton of people like your brother right now. Hopefully everything goes well with your daughter and congratulations. Sucks for the father-to-be but they arent taking any chances. My parents have been going to Stop n Shop early since they made the change. You are still at the mercy of what came on the truck the night before so I would say go everyday if you can until you hit paydirt. FWIW a lot of local pharmacies are making the hand sanitizer now. My local one is also selling bleach in limited quantities. |

I have to say this, if we had the press corps we have today during WWII, we'd all be speaking German right now. It's not about reporting facts and asking tough questions it's about getting a sound bite and trying to embarrass people. People are anxious especially in some of the hot spots, i.e. Washington State, new York, California. There's no need to sugar coat things but no need to stoke fear either. I've always felt you remain positive, I guess that's why I stuck with the Jets all these years.

On the bright side, I tried to show my daughter a couple of guitar chords a few years back. She was polite, but clearly waiting to go back outside with her friends. Just showed her three chords and she has been practicing for 45 minutes. She seemed fascinated when I told her she would know 10000 tunes if she learned only those chords.
Silver lining stuff I guess.

Went into work MOnday and Tuesday. Coughed a few times due to allergies and phlegm buildup. Got the side-eye from the other 5 people on the LIRR
but i did have an entire are to myself so yeah!

800 deaths in last 24h in Italy.. My octogenarian aunt and uncle are under lockdown in Veneto. Italy has basically stopped treating anyone over 80 so the death rate is going to spike for a while. From what my cousin is telling me, lots of the remaining clusters are in the small retirement homes that dot the region. |
