800 deaths in last 24h in Italy.. My octogenarian aunt and uncle are under lockdown in Veneto. Italy has basically stopped treating anyone over 80 so the death rate is going to spike for a while. From what my cousin is telling me, lots of the remaining clusters are in the small retirement homes that dot the region. Yeah I read Italy has one of the oldest populations in the world. |

My Uncle is 95 and still works (carpentry) I was over there a year ago and he was going up and down a ladder with a board under his arm. I hope they make it through - numbers have been very grim but he’s up in the mountains - a bit safer. |
