I’ve only touched weed once, since middle school. About 5 years ago at a conference in Denver. A very hot girl asked me to join her at the weed store downtown. Bought a few different types...one was pineapple as I recall. Anyway, we smoked it together in her hotel room, then I rode her like Eddie Arcaro on Secretariant. Ahhhhh, the good old days! Did she cry afterwards?

He was one of the good ones and is disgusted about the SOTU Its a real bummer for sure. Seems to look somewhat hopeless Are you saying cops steal your weed AND shoot your dog? WTF 32?!!!! Sure. Why not. And father-raping. Lotsofit.

Im getting a back to the future vibe. Any chance the wifne was a stoner back in the day? Over reacting now about it? My wife grew up in the "hood", was kicked out of High School and spent a weekend in Juvee before deciding to straighten herself out, get a GED and go to college. She is a great success story. I admire her more than anyone I have ever known. But, growing up poor with a single parent alcoholic untreated schizophrenic mom leaves scars. She saw plenty of friends take the wrong path and never recover. So, her concern is coming from her own personal experience. Whereas I grew up in a middle class (lower, but middle class nonetheless) two parent home in a good neighborhood where even friends who messed up still had plenty of room for error in their lives.

I like the imagery, but Arcaro never rode Secretariat. Ronnie Turcotte rode Secretariat in the triple crown. I also keep getting stuck on the fact that Secretariat was a guy.

It was Turcotte. As for the second point, isn’t that how gays have sex? Perhaps some of our closeted posters can chime in.

Oh my! Totally understandable and she definitely has some perspective that many do not. Good on her! But probably a bit terrifying for her right now. Lots of good advice in this thread. I would say to her to remember that your son was raised well. Trust that he has learned to make better decisions for himself as mom and dad won't be there all the time to make those decisions for him. We remind ours everytime they leave the house: make good choices. Doing what he's doing does not guarantee he is going down the wrong path. Regardless if its becoming more socially acceptable or legal. A reminder or nudge to him about that expectation of remembering right vs wrong or at least making good choices may not hurt.

Wow. Good for her. I can understand her angst. Good luck with whatever route you take (which I pray doesnt involve the police, lol).

Great advice here. I'm impressed. One thing I would enforce with him is it doesn't go in the car and he doesn't smoke in the car. That could cost you on your insurance, etc.
I personally have never touched the stuff and so far haven't had the feeling my kids are either. 21 and 18 yr old girls. Could be wrong but they are on a good path as far as I can tell. Good luck to you. As other's here have said, I think the best path is to be honest with him, make sure he knows you will be watching for a slip and make sure he is smart about it. Only thing I can add is keep an eye on his friends as much as you do him. A bad friend or group is probably worse than the pot in the direction of his life.

Fuck, now I want to get high.
But in addition to weed being much different today, as we age our brain changes.
I was hoping some weed could replace booze but none of it I've tried gives me the 1978 mellow buzz I remember.
