know a lot of people that are preppers, from mild to wild. everything from keeping the pantry stocked for a brief food shortage, to over the top prepping (food, water, ammo, bugout bags, bugout cabins, etc)
anyhoo wherever you are on the spectrum, you might wanna at least start stocking the pantry with food. some random reasons why:
-- over 2 million truckers say they'll quit over the baxx mandate within a couple months
-- the local farm that makes ciders, pies, etc says they are running out of the supplies needed to make their pies, can't source them anywhere
-- just got a call from my brother in law, active navy, asking to send energy bars/energy drinks or whatever because there are suddenly strict food rations/shortages at his base due to supply chain issues. the fucking navy
anyhoo just throwing it out there. shit is happening in plain sight, trending heavily toward not good. wakey wakey
ps please send pies

Could it really be just the US of A? If so, it makes me think it is manufactured or even, maybe, planned? This way the gubbermint needs to step in and take over private industry for Amerika to survive. Mebbe

Once you have ammo everything else falls into place. I have about 550 rounds of 9mm. Not nearly enough but its a start. I really want to get a rifle and need some more shotgun shells too.

You really need to get a rifle because of their versatility and power. Once you get past 25 yards most people are useless with a handgun but a rifle can take you out to 500 yards plus if you have the right one and caliber. And the skills too use it. It is also the only tool that should be used to take game. So many libs have bought handguns in the last two years yet I doubt any of them are proficient with them. They buy it, stick it in a safe unloaded, and most never even fire it. Once you have a firearm you need to practice and never underestimate dry fire training. Just using dry firing you can learn the correct way to grip a firearm, trigger control, and you can get repetitions in without spending a penny. If you keep a firearm in your house or on your body for personal defense it needs to be loaded and with relative ease at procuring it. People that buy a gun and keep it locked away, and even worse keep the ammo in another room all because they are scared of it just defeated the purpose of owning a firearm. It's basically a piece of steel under those circumstances.

You can search for anything and it will break it down by the cost per round. Picked up 1000 rounds of .223 delivered to my door for a total cost of .55 per round with shipping and tax, and that is new brass ammo. I'm not a big fan of steel ammo but you can get that even cheaper.

As for dryfiring my pistol I have a 9mm cartridge the fires a laser every time I pull the trigger and an app on my phone that shows how well I am doing. It is a lot of fun and I can do it across my living room. g-sight.com/

They are fun to shoot with barely any recoil, will take most game, are accurate, are beyond popular, and ammo is easy too find. You can get one as cheap as $600 although you'd be better off looking at something a little more expensive. Springfield Armory makes the Saint Victor line and you can get them for 1k and it's a great rifle, completely upgraded from the muzzle to the stock. You can also get nice red dots for $100.....just saw a site I use that sells a Sig romeo for $100, can't beat that. Check out this place if you do decide to buy a rifle. They have everything and also have great prices. palmettostatearmory.com/ You just have to pick your local ffl dealer so they can do the transfer. My guy only charges $13 but I'd assume it will be more for you. And since you're in jersey you'll have to get a permit from the state which really sucks and takes time.

I have the permit already thankfully. The only thing I would need from the state is if I got another pistol. Rifles and shotguns are covered by my existing license. The range I go to charged $40 for the transfer fee.

The reason I brought up the NJ permit is because my cousin lives in the state and he just bought a couple of revolvers and he kept complaining how Jersey fucks you around waiting for your permit. What a bullshit law when everyone has to go through a nics(fbi) background check for every transfer regardless.
