Thanks! I have the permit already thankfully. The only thing I would need from the state is if I got another pistol. Rifles and shotguns are covered by my existing license. The range I go to charged $40 for the transfer fee. $40 aint too bad and is probably more in line with the northeast. The reason I brought up the NJ permit is because my cousin lives in the state and he just bought a couple of revolvers and he kept complaining how Jersey fucks you around waiting for your permit. What a bullshit law when everyone has to go through a nics(fbi) background check for every transfer regardless. Yeah it is ridiculous. When I got my license it only took a month or so. It took a friend of mine almost a year.

I couldn't even get on paper at 10 yards, ripped my thumb up after the first shot and it had what felt like a 100lb. trigger.....just brutal too shoot. After 12 rounds I tapped out and so no mas.

You'll all look like fools when you run out of ammo. And there I'll be with all my melee weapons. Don't want a gun stock war club to the face? Hand over your food, post haste!

I got a Barretta Px4 Storm 9mm. It is on the heavy side. I like my girlfriends Smith and Wesson better.

If I ever run out of ammo the world we know will cease to exist. And I'm at about a 3 when it comes to gun enthusiasts on a scale of 1-10. I purposely spend 20 minutes at my gun shop looking around at a package of targets that I know I will buy just to hear the conversations in the background. There's a reason they are saving the 2A for last constitutional right in this country to be taken away.

I'm partial to Glocks but there are so many good pistols out there right now....check out the Springfield Amory hellcats. I don't want to sound like an endorsement for SA but they are bringing out some nice stuff for great prices. I also prefer 40 cal over 9mm but that's just me.

I have a G35 and a G27 which is my carry pistol, also a double stack as opposed to the single stack. The Gen4 and now Gen5 Glocks are awesome because of the stippled grip and the ability to change the backstrap.

I still think 9mm is relatively cheap when it comes to fmj range ammo and definitely cheaper than 40cal. It's also much easier to get than say 6-12 months ago. Check out that link I posted above for buying ammo, it's way cheaper than Cabelas and I have a Cabelas store less than 15 minutes from my house. Although they do sell tannerite, which is a good thing.

Pretty good from what I have seen and no shipping cost. I will check out your place too.

one of the (very few) things that's better in NY than in CT is my ability to just walk into any gun store and buy ammo no questions asked. buying in CT requires showing my CC permit and they log the purchase into the state system i top off the stacks every time i venture back to LI for whatever reason I buy all of my ammo online using ammoseek.com/. You can search for anything and it will break it down by the cost per round. Picked up 1000 rounds of .223 delivered to my door for a total cost of .55 per round with shipping and tax, and that is new brass ammo. I'm not a big fan of steel ammo but you can get that even cheaper. Thanks for the link. Just grabbed 2k rounds at 32.1 per round, shipping and tax included. This will bring me up to 3500 rounds in the safe.

Yeah I need to buy a rifle. I just haven't had the time to figure out what I want yet. As for dryfiring my pistol I have a 9mm cartridge the fires a laser every time I pull the trigger and an app on my phone that shows how well I am doing. It is a lot of fun and I can do it across my living room. g-sight.com/A great all around rifle is a 16" barrel AR15 chambered in 5.56/.223. They are fun to shoot with barely any recoil, will take most game, are accurate, are beyond popular, and ammo is easy too find. You can get one as cheap as $600 although you'd be better off looking at something a little more expensive. Springfield Armory makes the Saint Victor line and you can get them for 1k and it's a great rifle, completely upgraded from the muzzle to the stock. You can also get nice red dots for $100.....just saw a site I use that sells a Sig romeo for $100, can't beat that. Check out this place if you do decide to buy a rifle. They have everything and also have great prices. palmettostatearmory.com/ You just have to pick your local ffl dealer so they can do the transfer. My guy only charges $13 but I'd assume it will be more for you. And since you're in jersey you'll have to get a permit from the state which really sucks and takes time. OI went to the site. I see a wide price range. Is there really that much difference between a 829.00 AR and a 2200.00 AR? I see a scope on the one but other than that they look pretty much the damn same. Not a huge gun guy. I do have a couple of 9mm to carry and a pistol grip pump action shotgun in the house. I want a long barrel. I am not even certain which rifle is the right one to buy. I have had conversations around the AR and a 7 and 1 3006.

I have had conversations around the AR and a 7 and 1 3006. The prices differ so dramatically because of all the upgrades on the higher priced rifles. Lets say you buy a $800 AR and then you want to change the foreguard because the one that came with it is a piece of shit. Well now you just added another $200 to the price. Then you don't like the trigger so you upgrade that for another $200, and on and on. That's why I like the Springfield Armory Saint Victor line because the entire rifle is upgraded and they're selling for $950 on gunbroker.com. For just spending a couple hundred more you get a full length free floated m-lock foreguard which is lightweight and allows you to attach anything. The barrel, bolt, and bolt carrier group are melonite coated, it comes with a bravo company grip and stock, and best of all is the nickel boron trigger which is fucking sweet. Even if you were able to do all of those upgrades(you can't) on a cheap rifle you just pushed the price to over $1500 or more. If you want a larger caliber than 5.56 you can get that same rifle chambered in .308 which is comparable to 30/06. The difference is if you stay with the AR platform the modifications are unlimited, they are lighter, and are semi auto. 99% of 30/06 are bolt action and really not suitable or practical for home defense.
