Bump Update fish. Que pasa ? I got an offer on Friday! I used my wife's computer (we both work at the same company) and I scoped out a position that was posted internally only. I emailed the recruiter directly with my resume, and then annoyed her with emails asking for updates. A week later she responds and says the hiring manager wants to speak to me. First screening with the recruiter on Thanksgiving morning (she was from Canada so its no holiday there for them). Tuesday of this week I interviewed with the hiring manager, then Thursday with the VP (her boss). These were the only interviews I really felt I nailed - I've had loads of practice the last 2 months. Friday morning the VP asks for references, and Friday afternoon I was out hiking when I got the call with the offer. It's a lateral move but I'm still over the moon about it. If this dragged into the new year Im sure I would have fallen into some kind of depression hole. It's been really taxing on my psyche trying to be "on" for these interviews , and sitting around waiting for emails on updates. Best part is my start date isn't until January (as of now) so I basically have this whole month off to deal with the holidays (and collect unemployment). Glad to hear it. Enjoy your month of...slacker.

Really happy to hear this, sir. Always nice to hear about someone landing on their feet when they clearly deserve it.

Congrats Fish!
Now that you’re working again does this mean you’ll be able to post more often?
Seriously. Happy for you man!

Congrats Fish, excellent news. Seriously - people thought I was laid off earlier this year with the amount fishing trips I was doing. The last 3 years my job was kind of a joke - we lost 60% of our team then and we had reduced roles which gave me a lot of free time that I took advantage of. I should have been looking for a new job then so that was my fault for ignoring the writing on the wall. I was going in the office 1 day a week for the last year, and the other days from home. The days I was home I bailed early to take the kids or hikes or go kayaking. I kind wish those fucks would have laid me off in the summer instead but if they did there is no way I could focus on the job hunt in nice weather. It would be 2.5 months not working but it felt like 6 months - looking for a job was a full time job in itself, I wouldn't wish this shit on anybody. Looking forward to the fresh start and a new team, and honestly it's what I needed.

I used to do all my shitposting from my work laptop but I definitely haven't been able to for years because of their new content filter I upgraded my kids laptops so they had a crappy old one lying around I used for email & job hunting, so it should be good enough for shitposting here lol

The shit that gets passed for funny in the funny picture thread is a disgrace. So the new job is at the old one with the same firewall bullshit? How did that not get into the interview process?

I know, my laziness is deplorable. But I have made a conscious effort to reduce visiting sketchy sites at work. Plus they blocked imgur which is where I farmed a lot of my content lol. I was rehired at my old company - different location, different division, the whole 9 yards. I decided for the short term to get back in to get some different experience, then get the fuck out before they get a chance to lay me off again.
