Had to basically reapply for my NJ gun permit to process a change of address because somehow this state thinks your background check changes if you move. Anyway another thing is you need a new permit to buy a pistol which is another background check and $25/permit but you can combine it with the change of address to only have 1 background check. You have to buy your new pistol in 3 months or that permit expires.
Yeah NJ sucks.
Anyway I am in the market for a new pistol. Some people recommend getting a 22 for target practice because the ammo is cheap. I also have a ton of 9mm ammo so I am considering sticking with 9mm. Any recommendations? My current pistol is a Baretta Px4 Storm. My GF has a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield 9mm.

It all depends on what you want to spend. You can get them as cheap as $5-600,or you can spend $3k. Personally I would avoid the cheapest because you'll end up upgrading and end up spending more $ in the long run. I have a couple of Springfield Saint Victors and I love them because they're already updated from the factory and they run around $1k. All you have to add is an optic and probably a foregrip. |

Not wanting to get crazy but $1500 would be fine. By the time you pay tax, ffl transfer, add a red dot, and some extra mags you should be right around that number.
