I'm 30 years old. I went to what would amount to a trade school for IT. It wasn't cheap. I paid for it. I was school debt free at 27. I've worked for everything I have. You can suck my fucking dick. Preach

Every generation bitches about the one after it and feels the one before it is out of touch. It's hard to take this shit seriously. It's old guy cane shaking. It's not even a serious attempt at thought. For example:
Although the merits of redistribution of wealth is thoroughly discussed in almost every major religion in history (Christianity, for example) and the role of political economy and distribution of wealth in society is a fundamental topic in philosophy and political science going back to at least the Greek philosophers. You can also point to the early capitalist authors, including Adam Smith, and liberal philosophers that heavily influenced the founding of this country as recognizing the significance of redistributing wealth away from a crown-controlled property system. The American Revolution was a massive redistribution of wealth away from the English crown. That doesn't even get into the role that various socialist streams of thought have influenced American society and other American schools of thought.
As an aside, it seems like this thread would be a better fit for the political forum.

TL;DR but I agree in general. Since the Greatest Generation the pussification rate per generation has grown exponentially. Kids nowadays are as soft as marshmallows. Don't know what this country is going to look like 50 years from now. We systematically mentally castrate boys starting in kindergarten.
That said, I know there are plenty of young people that work hard and have earned everything they got. The problem is it seems like the other side is growing much faster.

This. I was brought up by a single mum on welfare on a council estate and had a weekend Daddy, we had nothing but never complained about it. I decided due to circumstances (falling in with the wrong crowd) that I would go to college and get an education, after gettin decent grades I used them to join the military and get a trade and a career. Only thing that made it hard was having kids at 19 and having the responsibility of fatherhood and juggling a military career at such a young age.
Broke my balls and grafted for everything I've ever had, all I have in this world are my kids, a high school sweetheart and the honour of serving my country. So fuck you "pussy generation" for bringing shame on us who fall in that bracket.

Blame the baby boomer generation who started this trend of enabling the shit out of their kids.

Blame the baby boomer generation who started this trend of enabling the shit out of their kids. And here is the answer. Hippies and beatniks who didn't want their kids surrounded by "rules."

I have no idea what this thread is doing here. This never, ever-ending story which could've been summed up in a paragraph hardly qualifies as a news flash. No softer country in history mired in malaise, self-centeredness and stupidity. What would we do without our selfies and texting icons?
