The easy access to the porn is what caused all of this. That and the reintroduction of the McRib. The re-intro of the McRib may have caused Leah Dunham to become so fat, ugly, gross grimace shaped and basically the most disgusting, blob-like, celluite ridden, gay causing human being on the planet (I'll give you that), but I don't buy it causing the other stuff. Maybe I meant the Baconator...?
All's I know is that there is ZERO attention span out there for everyone these days...it's immediate gratification for everything: Food, sex, money, power, information, SB wins (it has been a while for us though), etc. I do agree that all previous generations wanted all the same things, we just have all gone about it a different way. Interesting comments on the "best generation ever" and their reliance on the government handout. I'd say the guy who got his legs blown off during the D-Day invasion earned that for sure. But others that didn't have the kind of experience took advantage of the opportunity they were afforded. Hell, my old man was stationed in the Brooklyn Navy Yard during Korea; his number was never called for combat. Lucky him. But he too advantage of the times and is now 82 years old and comfortably retired with 2 pensions and his SSI.
I was raised the blue collar way: head down, work your balls off, keep your mouth shut...honest pay for an honest day's work thing. However, I wanted more. So I worked harder and smarter...I opened my mouth when I needed to...I gave more than I got initially, but eventually evened that out a bit. I am now a partner in a technology services firm, and see the laziness from the 20-somethings, the 30-somethings, the 40-somethings, and beyond. Hard work is not generational in my opinion. I was having the same frustrations with lazy assholes 20-30 years ago just as I am today.

I have no idea what this thread is doing here. This never, ever-ending story which could've been summed up in a paragraph hardly qualifies as a news flash. Perhaps. BUT, I guess I was expanding it further then just laziness to include some of the downfalls of US society. Anyway, I agree with many of your points. My dad was from the baby boomer generation, but he was drafted and served in Vietnam. He wasn't one of the whiney, rotten, un-American, wussies who have screwed this nation over since the late 60s. Look what the baby boomers have given us and look at the state of the world/family/country right now. Laziness is about having and growing up with a strong work ethic and many just don't have that anymore. They want it all now. Expect it. But, the pussification of the whole country is something bigger. Firing generals and subjecting our miltary to sexual diversity training and all the other BS that is now the norm is soo rediculous that it isn't funny. This is just where we are now because of the PC and feminism crap that's been warping this country for 40 years. We made our bed and now we have to lay in it. Anyway, none of this really has anything to do with the Jets (or does it)? I wonder...  |

Blame the baby boomer generation who started this trend of enabling the shit out of their kids. Amen to that. That generation is the one that should take the blame. They won't retire cause either: A). They think that no place can succeed without their awesome skills, cause ya know, their generation changed the world. B). Despite the fact that many are getting old a sickly, they are still vital. (This I can understand at least) C). And worse, they are greedy and even greedier after 2008. (generation that changed the world and all...hippies into yuppies I guess) Their folding on into their dottage has the trickle down effect that none of us (I'm 45) can move up job wise and this makes it hard for the pussies to get jobs, which I suppose is good, but the pussies can't grow up until they can get in the real world....everyone is just stuck I was brought up to respect my elders, but damn sometimes it's hard with these fucks... |
