www.myfoxtampabay.com/story/27896784/man-spots-gun-then-tackles-concealed-carry-license-holderDeputies take 43-year-old Michael Foster into custody. Clarence Daniels speaks to a deputy after being tackled inside the store. Hillsborough deputies arrested a man who spotted someone with a gun, followed him into a Walmart, and tackled him. The problem? The man with the gun had a concealed weapons permit, and the man who rushed him didn't call 911 or alert store security. According to the sheriff's office, Michael Foster, 43, saw Clarence Daniels, 62, in the Walmart parking lot with a gun holstered under his coat. Foster followed Daniels into the store, put him in a choke-hold and brought him to the ground, the sheriff's office said. He then started yelling that Daniels had a gun. A struggle ensued, with Daniels yelling that he had a permit. Security detained both men until deputies arrived. They confirmed Daniels had a permit for the gun, and arrested Foster. He is charged with one count of battery.

I don't recall ever hearing of someone doing this before, lot's of stories of similar incidents where 911 was called and left to deal with it.
Not sure what the attacker was thinking, but I am sure he has little understanding of Florida gun laws.
When the victim was exiting his vehicle his concealed carry was exposed and the perp assumed he was a bad guy, is there any one here that would of reacted similarly. Me I would of done nothing, barring any unusual behavior by the victim.

He should have shot the white guy. Stand your ground and all...right?
Here was a bad guy attacking a good guy with a gun. Good thing Daniels had a gun. Otherwise, who knows what could have happened. I mean, not such a good thing for the black guy in wal-mart who was killed for leaning on a gun while he talked on his phone but...wait.

He should have shot the white guy. Stand your ground and all...right? =============================================================== He would of been justified in doing so, but I am sure all parties involved are grateful that it didn't happen that way. As I understand the story I'm not so sure foster is a bad guy/racist, he did make a very bad decision that could of cost his life. Does illustrate that having a concealed weapons license, being armed, and possibly a good deal of training does not guarantee safety. not such a good thing for the black guy in wal-mart who was killed for leaning on a gun while he talked on his phone ====================================================== Seems I recall a story about a guy who picked up a paint ball gun/pellet gun and was wondering around browsing the store(?), in a Walmart and was shot. Don't remember the details, but seem to recall it was a bad shoot by the responding LEO?

White guy assumed black was about to do wrong. That's the South. =================================================================== I just took a long drive through the south and my experience was that every one was extremely nice to me, black and white. But I don't live there and have never spent a long period of time down south so maybe your right.

Don't remember the details, but seem to recall it was a bad shoot by the responding LEO? Is that the John Crawford thing in Ohio? They released the surveillance video. He wasn't leaning on a gun, he was carrying and swinging an air rifle around in Walmart, so some other customer called 911, not knowing it was an air rifle. When the LEOs responded, he didnt comply with them asking him to drop the weapon; he was on the phone and then it looks like he tried to run. The 911 call they were responding to, the eyewitness said he was pointing it at people (which the guy later recanted). No indictment returned on the LEO who shot him.

Thankfully he didnt, and hopefully the white guy is prosecuted for battery. Like gunnails noted, carrying, and being trained, still doesn't mean that someone cant get the jump on you.

There are a lot of gun carrying citizens who think they're cool by showing they have a gun.

There are a lot of gun carrying citizens who think they're cool by showing they have a gun. =============================================================================== Pure conjecture and speculation. I would speculate the number of concealed carriers showing that they are armed because it's "cool" is very small. In most states you have to have a background check to conceal carry, the percentage of crimes committed by concealed gun carriers is I speculate no larger then LEO who commit crimes. I believe Alaska, New Hampshire, and Arizona do not require any sort of license or permission to legally conceal carry Open carry is another issue as I would speculate there is a small portion of the open carry groups that do want to show off and flaunt that they can legally open carry.

Did he have Skittles? ================================================================== Sometimes when you have nothing to add perhaps it might be best to not add any thing? Otherwise I might infer you are calling me racist as this is my thread and I am the big 2nd amendment guy. Not that I believe you mean to single me or any one else out as racist, or care if you do call me racist, just saying. You miserable Chowd.
