So happy this documentary has finally been made available to see. Yes it's 90 minutes. Yes, many won't watch even a minute. But if you want to hear what doctors (!), scientists, academics as well as parents and industry representatives have to say about this stuff, take a look. Just because this stuff doesn't happen to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen. As a sneak preview, jump to the 0:42 minute mark and watch the segment about the Checks of Staten Island. Then start to ask yourself about what you've been told about why we have to vaccinate all kids in the name of herd immunity. If that's not an eye-opening failure of logic for you, I don't know what to tell you. www.boughtmovie.net/free-viewing/Here's the trailer:

Not sure what you were hoping to accomplish by that vanilla statement. How it's modified is what's at issue here, not whether it is modified. Guess you didn't watch any of this?

The irony about that documentary is that it's poorly presented point is the relationship between big money and food/drugs while the entire documentary is a complete cash in on the big money out there for anti-intellectual fears. It takes some legitimate issues about the interrelation between money and power but misdirects it towards trying to rationalize irrational positions. There are some good documentaries and books addressing these issues but this one isn't one of those.

I'm an admitted novice when it comes to the GMO stuff, but the vaccine and overall Pharma stuff is mostly spot-on. What irrational positions are you referring to? Before answering, please don't bring tired, flawed epidemiological research "studies" to the table for any of your arguments, it will save us both a lot of time in defending any arguments put forth.

Really? The film raises a lot of important points, including the over-reliance on epidemiological studies as hard science. That's anti-intellectual? While those studies certainly have their place, they shouldn't be held up as end-all/be-all arguments; THAT is anti-intellectual (and anti-science). If you want to reference them, fine. My saying not to bring any was a bit harsh I suppose. But I really don't feel like arguing against a bunch of them if they are going to be held up as "hard science", which if how you "fixed my post" commentary is any indication, is precisely how you feel. Fuck it, reference what you want. I'll stop being lazy.

I think everyone can relate to food more than vaccines. Anything that touches medicine, law..etc are subjects where people rely on other people’s opinions (doctors, lawyers..) who are supposed to have our best interests at heart. It takes a lot of studying on a personal level to get the point where you’d be comfortable with the idea of not giving a certain vaccine to your kids.
Food is simple, we all eat it and it’s downright scary the stuff we’re eating (admittedly I don’t do much about it, but I read labels now, which I didn’t do before). There’s a sort of counterstream happening here. Major grocery stores selling “ugly vegetables” for cheaper. Anyone who’s seen a real unmodified carrot knows they’re not perfectly straight and perfect diameter from end to end.
Both my kids have allergies and there’s no doubt in my mind it’s linked to stuff we’ve eaten (wife and I), and what they’re eating…etc.

I get that people get scared...but I think the hysteria has jumped the shark. People now respect an asshole like "FoodBabe" over scientists and farmers. There's a happy medium here to be had. But Jesus H....I'm so sick of hippie a holes and their "I'm on a Paleo-diet and only eat organic food" crap. I had one moron extol to me all the virtues of eating grapefruit. Should have seen the look on the Whole Food shopping idiots face when I told him that Grapefruit was genetically modified and not even natural. It was invented by humans in the 1800's.

Without GMOs we could never hope to feed the people of the world. Hippies are against chemical fertilizers and pesticides yet GMOs allow for less use of both and less water for growing our food. There has never been anything proven stating that GMOs are harmful and most of the crap about vaccines has been proven wrong. Not getting vaccinated is MUCH more dangerous than getting vaccinated. Yes the flu vaccine is a choice but things like polio devastate unvaccinated populations.

Yes the flu vaccine is a choice but things like polio devastate unvaccinated populations. Most of this just isn't true. There is more than enough food grown to feed the world's population. The government pays farmers not to grow more crops and milk has to be supported with price supports. It's the distribution that's a problem. GMO's do not allow for the use of fewer pesticides. ON the contrary it allows crops to be doused with Roundup without killing the plant, only the bugs. And there is documented evidence of GMO's modifying probiotics in the gut (which is the basis of the body's immune system), as well as being linked to tumors.

Yes the flu vaccine is a choice but things like polio devastate unvaccinated populations. You're using an extremely broad definition of 'modified'. Hybridization is not the same as genetic modification, it doesn't introduce dna of foreign species into another one like genetically modified organisms do. And corn is another example of how farmers have changed the plant similar to your banana; it used to have only a few seeds on a cob, not filled with seeds like (pre-GMO) cobs. Corn and grains aren't exactly the healthiest things to eat anyway and this is what the Paleo people whom you hate have realized and acknowledged, by going back to a pre-agricultural revolution diet which the human body hasn't evolved to cope with
