What's everyone opinion on him & maybe targeting him in the 2nd round? Heard some good things about his pro day, but can't take too much into account based off of that.
I think he's got some potential to take a chance on. I actually think I prefer to take him in the 2nd, allowing us to draft another player in round 1 or trade back for 2 1sts, vs. drafting Mariota with our 1st pick.
#12, #19 & Browns 6th rd pick for #6 & our 4th rd pick.
12 - Parker or DGB (both can learn under BMarsh) 19 - Todd Gurley 2nd rd - Bryce Petty 3rd rd - Best Available OLB
Next generation of Jets offense locked and loaded. At least at WR & RB.

I like him as well. But I'd have a hard time saying no to Mariota if he there for us at 6.

Some feel he has the best overall arm in this class. I personally don't see it. I don't like his delivery, release or the spin/velocity he puts on the ball. There's just something off to me, but I'd say the same thing about Rivers and be wrong. I think he represents some value if rd.3+...

I would take a chance on him in Rd 2 only if we had traded back in round 1 and picked up two of the following three...OLB, RB, OLine.
I REALLY don't want to leave Rd 2 without having gotten one of the Top 4-5 RBs.

Not a fan at all of drafting Petty in the second round.

Could care less about any QB in this class not named Winston or Mariota.
Odds are, guys like Petty and Grayson will be career backups at best.
Don't see the use in wasting a Top 40 selection on that.

I REALLY don't want to leave Rd 2 without having gotten one of the Top 4-5 RBs. Based on some of the rankings and mocks, it's looking to me like: a) A premier pass rusher would have to be at the top half of Round 1 with some possible options at the end of round 1/beginning of round 2. b) We could probably wait until Round 3 and still have a shot at a very good RB c) As much as I love Kevin White, we could probably get a solid, speed WR into Round 4. Just not sure if we should use an earlier pick on one given the dropoff at the other positions of need after Round 3. d) Here's the wildcard. If the FO wants a QB in this draft, (let's assume Winston & Mariota are gone by 6) then we may have to move on one in the first 3 rounds. e) There should be some good OTs available at each of our first 3 picks (assuming no movement) My feeling (for what it's worth) is that IF we're going to draft a QB, we're going to need another pick in the first 3 rounds (Hundley, Petty, Grayson). I did hear a host on NFL Radio last night speculate that the Jets might trade up into the bottom of round 1 for a QB. Didn't hear them say for who, but that it could be a possibility. Just my feelings.

I am definitely in the minority, but I think Hundley is criminally underrated. If you guys have a chance I would encourage you to read more Matt Waldman. He writes about draft prospects for football outsiders and also has his own website. It was after reading his analysis of Hundley that I started thinking the guy would be a huge steal in the draft's 2nd round.

The areas that Petty struggles in, are those that I don't think you can fix. You either stand tall in the pocket or you don;t.... he's a 1 read QB with happy feet. Petty is not worth drafting anywhere before rnd 4. I'd much prefer Grayson if you're chasing an early rnd development guy.

The more video I've watched of Grayson + personal interviews, the more I've come to like him.

I think I prefer Bridge in the late rounds over Petty/Grayson in the mid rounds.

Wasn't round 2, but got him round 4. Yeah I guess it's decent value it I would of probably gone with Tre Jackson or a RB.

I'm surprised I didn't comment on this thread before, thanks for the necro. I always liked Petty more than most just because of his mechanics and throwing motion and posted about him in other threads.
He might have ran a simplified gimmick offense but he had to dissect a defense within seconds for his first read throws. He might have led the most up tempo offense in the entire NCAA.....even faster than Oregon.
For a fourth and a seventh, this was a great pick. A prototypical QB with great size, arm strength, and mechanics. Now I hope he sits his ass on the bench for at least one year.
