Sorry to contribute to the derail of this thread with myh post about my rain water harvesting project, but Southslide did bring up rain water. Edit for random smiley. Harvest rain water? Water is in the ground. Why work so hard to get it. Thje city, county, and the state frown on new wells, Lord knows why, but you can't get a permit to dig a well where city water is available. Dint have to work to hard, sure the holding tank is not needed with a well, but c'mon, this water falls out of the sky and would otherwise just run off into the storm drains which creates its own challenges. But your right in the sense that a well provides a constant supply year round, and after you drill it the cost to pump it out are minimal and it's typically safer to drink. The biggest driving factor behind this is PR, this is a green state and a highly green town, you get Brownie points for this stuff.
