Wild game. 2 huge points. Halak may not have been at his best tonight, but he played really well in the final 10 minutes. Wings had some great opportunities but Halak was huge. RobR -- no reason to miss games when you are on the road. Thats what sports bars are for. I have spent more nights than I care to count while travelling nursing a beer in a sports bar watching one of my teams. Edit: Ottawa just lost. 9 points up on the 8 spot. Still hope Cappy gets fired, but feeling a bit better after today's games. fuck the 8 spot, pass the slumping rags isles have just finished a string of playing top teams...we finish the season against some punching bags. look up, not down L G I !!!!!!!!!!!!
Would have felt that way a month ago - I never imagined that I would be looking at the 8 spot and getting worried. I just want to lock up a playoff spot now -- once that's done, I will worry about seeding.

My kids were born in the 90s. Lets get into the playoffs and knock those fuckers out -- that means a lot more to me than catching them in the regular season. How sweet would a playoff win over the Rags be in the last season at the Coliseum -- a place where I witnessed Stanley Cup victories as a season ticket holder in the 80s.

Call me a pessimist all you want but there are no comparisons between then and now. And I sure as hell wasn't born in the 90's.

The power play has been downright blazingly pathetic lately. Amazed they got 3 PPG. They made a change to their power play last night. First time I can remember when they were putting two guys in front -- Lee and Okposo were both parked in front of the net when we had control of the puck in the offensive zone -- created a lot more traffic and made things tougher on the goalie. Not going to score three on the PP every night, but it was refreshing to see the difference.

And what happened to the grit this team had early on? MMartin was playing hard, getting in to it with other teams, sticking up for teammates. Ever since he broke his nose, it seems like he's a bit of a pussy cat.

It's been strange to watch. The Islea have seemingly lost the ability to possess the puck and has become downright inept at clearing the puck out of the defensive zone. The latter is definitely on Cappy. Teams have obviously gone to school on the Isles tendencies and the coaching staff has been way too slow to adjusting to the league's adjustments. I wish they would do what others seem so good at lately: take out the lob wedge and start lifting the puck instead of continuing getting picked at the blue line - constantly.

Finally showed up. 2+ months after I ordered it -- what do you expect for $35 and free shipping. Two weeks after I went to the games. Wonder if I will be safe wearing this in Philly next Tuesday?

They should practice lifting the puck out of the zone for an hour every day until they get it right.
"AGAIN!" (Miracle)

Watched Florida/Boston, good result. Flipped to Detroit/Ottawa , not a good result. Now catch the end of the Jets game, hoping they win in Regulation.
