That 3rd period reminded me a lot of watching last year's team -- except that we now have a goalie who can bail us out. Back on our heels the entire period, losing all of the battles for the puck, unable to clear the zone, late penalties -- everything we suffered through last year, except we have a legit top 10 goalie.
Hopefully with the two days off, Boychuk will be ready to go on Tuesday. 11-3 is a pretty damn good November.

Good game guys. It wasn't the thrashing I expected. Halak was outstanding tonight. I thought you outplayed us until the last few minutes of the second. Then the exhaustion from paying 6 games in 9 nights and injuries showed in the 3rd. Good luck on the season and thanks for helping us get closer to getting McDavid or Echiel haha. You didn't even see the real Islanders tonight. We played like crap and still pulled out 2ROW pts only because of our goalie. When this team is clicking on all cylinders it is deadly and fun too watch. Hopefully we get Boychuk and Viz back soon.....or call up Pulock or Czuzcman because I've had enough of Donovan. He's my new Landry/Cumberland....I never want to see him on the ice.

At the start of the season, I thought the goalie upgrade would net an additional 8 to 10 points over the season.
I think they're at that total now, and still more than 2/3 of the season to go.

I was at a bar on the N Fork last night w my wife & 2 other couples...lots of TV's playing the huge college football rivalry games, etc....anyway the 3rd period of Islanders/Devils took the bar's attention & 2 addl TV's were turned to the hockey game- place going nuts as they fought off the 5 on 3 power play, & erupted when game finally ended.
My long winded point is NY'ers are starting to buy-in to this team...4 deep lines & Vezina caliber goalie play...Feels like we can have a deep run in the playoffs. Potvin being there last night, Billy Smith earlier in the week, etc. Very exciting stuff.

2 points tonight courtesy of Jaro Halak. What a 3rd period he played. Isles much improved, it all starts between the pipes...

It's bittersweet because I think this means Boychuk might be missing some significant time. I hope I'm wrong but Pulock would be the guy with the bomb on the PP that we've been missing since JB went down.

I heard he went down on his arm awkwardly. Good that its not a concussion, but bad if it means its a broken arm.
By no means do I want Strait or Donovan playing but its a lot better having them as 7th and 8th Dmen (with Pulock and Griff waiting in the wings) than having Aaron Freaking Ness play like we did last year.

I have tickets for 12/13 against the Blackhawks. I got them because a friend has a package and asked if I'd take a few games. I've never bought tickets in advance because I knew that I could always find good, cheap tickets the day/week of the game. But, now that I look at the schedule, its becoming possible that you need to get tickets in advance - the best tickets won't be available for $.10 on the dollar like they have been in the past, right before the game. I thought I was paying too much for the tickets by getting them at the STH discounted price - now they may be a bargain.
They aren't at the point where they are selling out weekday games but them drawing 12k+ on a Tuesday is a lot better than the 9k they were drawing only a year or two ago. I suspect it will get substantially more packed as the new year comes and they continue to play well.

I think if just Viz was out they wouldn't call up anyone if Boychuk was imminent in his return......they would already have an extra defensman. I don't want to see Pulock called up and then end up sitting in the pressbox, but again I'm just guessing. He is having a much better season than Griff at this point and I want too see him playing whether it be here or down at the bridge. Another possibility is they call Pulock up for just a game or two.

According to reports at practice today, Pulock is not there -- and Viz, Boychuk and Hammer are being held out of practice. Depth on the blue line is certainly being tested early this season. No idea who will suit up tomorrow.

Definitely not TB. Wait for the week of the game and then check SH. I'd monitor SH periodically to see if there is anything that pops up that's a great deal.
On the week of the game, check Craigslist for ads from a guy listing tickets - his name is Mike. He has the best tickets in the house (just about) for a very reasonable price. MLK might be pricier as well as that there may be a greater demand than in previous years, but you can generally sit in between by the blueline in the 200s for $60 or under.
He's got the Blues and Blackhawks listed now for $70 - $90. Much more than in past years. That may go down closer to the game but it could go up if there is demand. Of course, he has the Senators listed for $25 for tonight so weekday games are a soft market.

Another W. Showed some guts hangin in there when Ott tied it up. Looked a little slow in the first. Played a good game. DeHaan didn't play a good game. What kind of asshat giveaway on Otts second goal.
