Saw this today. Not sure if accurate, but seems so.
JT since Thanksgiving: 20 GP (1/4 of a season) 5-4-9 and minus -9

I don't think it's been 20 games since thanksgiving.

Something is clearly wrong with Tavares. I don't know if he is injured, or something else in his life, but he is not right.
As for the team itself, I don't know what the stats say, but we seem to never dominate possession. Unlike last year when we carried the play almost always, this year it feels like our O-zone time is half of what it was last season.

LOL- here's the big roster shakeup lineup changes for tonight.
Defenseman Marek Zidlicky will replace Scott Mayfield and goaltender Thomas Greiss will start in place of Jaroslav Halak.
That oughta get the offense rolling.
:shake head:

Hopefully Columbus on Tuesday was a tuneup for tonight.

We need to play the Rags every game, it's the only time they play hard.

Great game tonight. Wasn't thrilled with Cappy's decision to start Halak tonight, but Jaro sure came through.
What are the chances Pelech stays in Brooklyn even after Hamonic and Boychuk come back. The guy sure looks like he belongs.

They'll send him down no doubt....it's what the Islanders always do even with crap like Zid, Strait, and Hickey. From the games I have seen he looks to be improving from game to game which is always a good sign.

Surprised they sacked up in the third, TBH.
Hopefully they can keep it up. No post ranger hangover.
Don't know why they can't give it 100% every game. Or at least like 5 out of 6....
Let's see how they play until the All star game

The Isles have been inconsistent and uninspired for stretches of the season. They have absorbed some key injuries and scoring droughts. Tavares is not Tavares... and still have a better record than most.
It's amazing how expectations shape your perception as a fan.

I also think that this team is being carried by the goaltending right now. Even last night's game, I thought the Rangers outplayed them for long stretches in the first two periods, but Halak kept it close. Then they played a strong 3rd period to pull it out. Halak struggled first couple of games back from injury, but has played very well most of the season and Greiss has been much better than I think anyone could have expected.

Goaltending has definitely carried them so far.

Now if they can only put the two together. It seems like we either have one or the other....or if you go back a few years, neither.
